Starwest Botanicals Kola Nut Powder, 1 Pound

I ordered this because I wanted to make homemade cola, and I’ve been using it very happily. I don’t drink it as a coffee substitute, so I’m not sure about the caffeine content. The powder is so fine that I think it would be great for people who add it to smoothies. When mixed with water, the particles are so smooth you can hardly feel them. However, because the powder is so fine, it gets blown into the air when opening and closing the bag. I transferred it into a glass jar for easier use. I put plastic wrap under the lid to prevent air from getting in, and it seems like the taste and color stay consistent without any degradation. When I made homemade cola, the taste and color aren’t as intense as store-bought cola or Pepsi, but it definitely has that real cola smell and color! I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a healthier cola alternative.

Received product today with a hole in the packaging... I plan to transfer to a mason jar and keep in brown paper bag. Will update later based on results from product. Update 2/19/20 A few days ago I received an email from the seller and I informed them the package was damaged. The seller refunded the purchase, I was not expecting that but thank you, I am bumping from one to three stars. I will keep you posted on the benefits I experienced using the product. Update 3/2/20 I was trying to wait a month of testing out the product before providing an update but the results of this powder truly were immediate. I started with the suggested serving size on the bag (1/8) but by day 2 I upped it up to 1 teaspoon, I am 5'6" (5'7" on a good day) hovering around 180pds/190pds with a pretty high tolerance to things in general, so I figured why not. Initially I was worried that the quality would not be as potent due to the small hole that was in the bag when I received the item so I transferred it to an air tight mason jar and placed the jar in a brown paper bag to prevent oxidization. When using this product, I experienced an immediate boost in energy but not to the point of feeling jittery or having heart palpitations (which normally happens with 2 to 3, 8oz cup of coffee) I felt "Happy" (the euphoria feeling that coffee provides) My digestive system has been moving (burping, flatulence, large bowel movements...TMI, I know but hey we're human!) I haven't had a cold/flu in nearly a decade so I can't attest to it strengthening my immune system although I hear that it does boost the immune system which is always a good thing... (could possibly help fight the corona virus...). I feel like my skin is looking clearer (I have been battling hormonal acne lately) and that's all I can say for now. If I do notice any additional changes I will update. My verdict is ... 5 stars, although I initially had an issue with the hole in my bag, customer service refunded me the entire purchase and their product proved to me that it is well worth every dime. I will be buying again soon before my current stash finishes. (I feel like this product at 1 teaspoon a day will last about 2 to 3 months)

I added it and some Stevia to some sparkling water, it wasn't bad. On it's own it was nasty

This Nut is tastey and delicious. Way more medicinal value than the other Nut too. I typically drink Nut with my coffee, but sometimes with other beverages. Its also quie good mixed in the mini waffle batter.

you’re prepared for an instant fountain, which I totally was not expecting. It’s like a cross between pouring Coke over ice cream and throwing in a Mento. Trying it in a glass with plenty of room might help. I put it directly in the bottle and half the Coke ended up as foam gushing out. Once it calmed down and didn't threaten me with a Coke shower, I was able to drink what was left. The kola nut powder tasted fine in Coke, and it also tasted nice in hot milk with a bit of turbinado sugar. Next I’m going to try it with molasses and milk as one reviewer suggested. My ultimate goal beyond all these experiments is to add this to my own cola syrup based on the old Coke recipe. But I decided to play with it first, as I’d like something new that I can drink hot in the morning. Very happy with this purchase.

I had this from other suppliers but this is the best. I usually add it to hot tea and the texture is much finer making it easier to devolve. There is still some residue but much less than others. I highly recommend this suppliers product.

Kinda disappointed in this product. Reviews seemed reasonable which is why I purchased. The powder was inconsistent in granularity, quality was poor and it’s not even from Nigeria. I love kola and the natural energy it gives me, but this wasn’t it. It’s possible it’s not real kola. Save your money and make sure you’re getting the real deal.
