Not what you think
I'm writing this as a warning to the less tech savvy of us Amazon customers. Although this is described as a wifi router, it’s not in the sense of what many of us lay-people would know as one.It would be better described as a range extender as there is no DSL port to plug your home broadband into. Therefore, you need to have either an existing router or broadband modem to be plugged into this item, meaning it was just about useless for my intended purpose of replacing my rubbish PlusNet router. There is no hint of this fact until you unpack it and read the setup page, where it starts of by saying "Plug the AC3200 into an upstream modem or router" which rung alarm bells and prompted me to do some further digging before unpacking any further, and even then, the fact that it’s an extender is buried fairly deeply on the interweb techy pages, so personally Amazon, I think that product description needs reviewing. This was unfortunate, because it was a fine looking piece of equipment, well made and Wavlink are a reputable company, so I've no reason to doubt it wouldn't serve its designed purpose, however, it’s no good for me and I suspect many others who are just looking to plug in a replacement router, setup a password, then within minutes, be cruising the super-fast highways of Sir Tim Berners-Lee creation (Either the best or worst thing that happened to this world depending on your point of view).Oh, one piece of feedback for Wavlink, if they got rid of what is probably the most fancy packaging I’ve ever seen for a computer peripheral, they could probably knock 10 quid off the price.

Great performance and value
Although it is a bit unsightly with all the antennae, this is a great router. I had a lot of dead spots in my house with my old router (not my service provider's but a significant upgrade) and an increasing number of devices competing for data. As such I had lots of buffering and stopping and slow downloads. This router was very easy to set up, the app prompted me to name the network and set a password and then it set itself up and I was back online in no time at all. The signal is much stronger and reaches parts of the house the previous router could not but more importantly no more slow speeds or buffering. I have since added additional WiFi cameras and a WiFi alarm system and it all works fine with no loss of performance across any devices. The picure quality on my existing cameras seems better and I can now have them in HD as it loads faster (it was frustratingly slow on the old router). So overall I am really happy with this router and would definitely recommend it. I looked at lots before deciding this was the best value and performance and I am very happy with my choice.

Looks Good but Pretty Hopeless
At the time of purchase this had excellent reviews and I needed a new router as my previous one stopped working. I ordered it and it arrived quickly,The box it came in felt expensive and well made as did the actual router. However, when I plugged it in and started setting it up and connecting to the wifi, my Windows 10 laptop warned me that the security was poor as it uses WPA instead of the more secure WPA2. No password is set up by default, but when you log in for the first time, you are asked to set this up.The problems then started. Firstly, you can only set up 10 static IP addresses and the devices mostly show up as "Unknown", so you have no idea what the devices are when allocating IP Addresses. If you have a simple network then this will not be an issue but my network has 30 devices with static IP addresses, so this router is unsuitable and will need to go back. The software on the router is very basic, so if you just want a router that looks good and doesn't need much configuration, then this will be fine.

No customer service!
I purchased this item on its brilliant specifications and customer feedback. Although quite large, the router looks really good, with none of those silly aerials sticking out everywhere (it has eight internal) and I was pleased with it on arrival and looked forward to a better wi-fi experience. Unfortunately, this never happened for me.. I tried the given configurations - "Repeater" and "Access Point" but no matter what, my wi-fi dropped to virtually zero and simply became unusable and unbearable. With all the fantastic features of the router, I was reluctant to place the blame fairly and squarely on the unit itself, so decided to contact the manufacturer "Wavlink" via their customer support email address. With great patience, I tried on several occasions (and sources) to get some kind of reply from them - but nothing! Let me just add, that I previously purchased a "Wavlink dual band outdoor wi-fi extender" which turned out to be a single band when it arrived. This, by the time I discovered it, meant it was too late to return the item (my fault). So there you are, after the lousy, or should I say - non-exhistant customer service, I have returned the item for refund. I must make it clear that the Amazon seller (from whom I bought the item) has no bearing on this whatsoever and I had/have absolutely no problem with them at all, but as for Wavlink themselves, they have lost a customer as I will never purchase the brand again!

Ac3000 is Fantastic for the price.
I wasn’t expecting too much but reviews suggested it was worth ago, Virgin router was constantly dropping out so wanted to buy something that could match the speeds I’m currently paying for and this bad boy certainly does, not only does it look the part but performs like a pro router, no buffing issues, download and upload speeds match what I should be getting from my ISP so overall I’m pretty happy.I have around 30 devices attached and not seen any issues so far.The app is pretty simple to use too and does what I need it to do.Certainly would recommend if you looking for an upgrade but don’t want to pay the price of a top brand.
