Lightning Shipment Speeds!
The sensor worked as expected and the shipment is the fastest I have seen from a non-amazon prime seller (two days from California to Georgia). Jameco makes great products in general and their service is no different. Keep it the good work!

Disappointed with field of view
Far too wide angle. Doesn't do the job I wanted, which is ranging an object directly in front of it. Objects to the side reflect back as well.

Absolutely the best sonar you can buy for the price
Absolutely the best sonar you can buy for the price.Maxbotix is a leader in the field. I use these on all of myrobotics projects. Very accurate distance measuring on my rover and on my quadrocopter.

Won't find a better company to work with
MaxBotics is an awesome company to work with - Great customer support - They answered all the questions that I had regarding the sensor and the information on the datasheet. They even provided pre-sales guidance on what sensor to buy for my project. The sensor itself is well made and easy to use.The sensor outputs the range information as either a voltage, pulse width or a serial string. The serial on the sensor is inverted TTL so if you're going to read this into a device that expects RS-232 then you'll need to invert (and level shift if it needs the 12v instead of 5v).Each of these is available at the same time depending on which pin you want to connect to. I used the serial output in my project as it was the most interesting way of getting the data. The simplest would have been to just read in the voltage via an analog input but then I wouldn't have had the opportunity to write some interesting code and play with my logic analyzer.Regardless, you won't go wrong with either this sensor or MaxBotix as a supplier.
