I had seen references to these griddle cakes in historical novels, so I decided to try them. Are they a bit pricey? Well, yes, but this is not an overly sweet yellow oblong sponge cake injected with whipped cream. These are real treats made with authentic ingredients. I tried the cranberry and orange, a real test for me as I am generally not terribly fond of either fruit. I warmed it in the microwave for 10 seconds, then ate it with a fork, to avoid just wolfing it down. It was perfect: flavorful with a light dusting of sugar on top, not too sweet, and perfect with a cup of tea. I look forward to enjoying the rest, and to trying other offerings from the Welsh Baker. The product is fantastic. I love taste, though some people might find the texture different than they are used to, it tastes like coming home to me. I'm a big fan of the traditional currant ones but also love the blueberry and cranberry orange ones too. I haven't tried the chocolate chip ones yet but if the chips are as tasty as the chocolate coating on the sample size chocolate covered shortbread I received as a gift when I ordered 4 packs instead of just 2, they should be good too! I wish the Welsh Bakers shortbread was also available through Amazon!

Excellent taste with a soft but firm texture (not dry or crumbly). Great value for the money with awesome flavors. I will buy these again and again, as I just bought a second batch.

I’d never tried before, but now I’m addicted. They’re kinda like a scone, but not as dry or messy. I love them for quick breakfast or an after meal treat. They are sufficient size, although smaller than English muffin, which I expected. I add Tiptree lemon curd to mine and love them. Gonna try new flavors and add different jams next.

Used to order these diect before they wre on Amazon they were xceptionally good. Order from Amazon not good at all, dry and stale tasting. Will not oder again.

These little cakes are absolutely delectable. I did not know what to expect but the taste of these treats remind me of my mom's baking as a kid. I am not Welsh but these definitely hit the mark. I was happily surprised that they were as fresh as right out of the oven. Never received a baked good as fresh.I have seen some reviews indicating an issue with texture? I do understand those comments. These little guys melt in your mouth, especially with 8 seconds in the microwave along with clotted cream and jam. I would recommend the currant flavor to anyone. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Delicious!Only regret is that I didn't order more. This was my first order. . .being cautious and all. Now I have to wait for another batch to arrive. Why am I just finding these now?

These cakes are a great taste from across the pond. Yes it costs a bit more but if I go down to my local tea shop the per item cost is more plus I have to travel an hour to get to said tea shop. Heat for a few seconds and you have a great welsh cake. These are my favorite indulgence. Current and cranberry orange always hits the spot.
