Dear bookbinders: this is 1mm thick!
The colors of the waxed thread are beautiful, but 1mm is way too thick for any of what I do for book making. This may work for some people, especially for a removable waxed fabric or leather cover, but it’s not for me and I’ll have to return it. Also this thread is braided/woven so you cannot split it half like embroidery floss.I included a photo of this thread plus regular sewing thread in case anyone else is like me and absentmindedly accepts 1mm as a sensible thread gauge hahah. This is my fault for not paying attention to the product description, but this came up as a related item in ordering some other bookbinding supplies and I threw it in my cart.

These are perfect for book binding
I especially like the variegated thread. Looks great when creating a braided series of coptic stitches.

Good for the price
This was a nice quality thread and worked well when stitching. If you want a weird rainbow look to your products, go for it.However, I hated how it looked when complete. The alternated colors made my fine leather goods look silly. I think this has a lot of good applications, but it is not something I would use again. Also, there was an issue with how it works when saddle stitching. If you started in a red section, the saddle stitch would be red for a while to work through the red section. Then it would be the next color on one needle and a different color on the other needle. It would alternate between those two colors. Then change colors again. So at the start of the stitch, it would be almost a solid color. Then the colors would alternate between two colors until the next transition. I hope that makes sense. It does not result in a constant color change, but a more gradual change. Interesting and fun to work with, but the resulting colors didn't work for me.but it does what it advertises and is a great value for the different colors you get to try.

Strong
Great colors. Strong thick thread. My only dislike was it is a bit too waxy for my liking, but not so much that I wont use it.

Great for Dreamcatchers
I make dreamcatchers and I used artificial sinew on them. However, sinew only comes in a handful of colors. So I thought looked at the waxed thread and thought why not? It’s much cheaper. I am so glad I did! I am very happy with the quality and ease of use. Great product!

Works out well
I realize pine needle basketry was not its original intended purpose but it comes out good. Wax will melt and dusty look goes away 150 degrees centigrade, 3 min..

Overall good for the price.
The colors are great but the wax is very uneven, either to much or just right. The colors looked faded but it’s just the wax coming off as it gos through each hole. The ends do fray almost instantly and I have gotten in the habit of burning them so I don’t fight with it to get it back in the sewing needle. But it does the job and works fine.
