HDE-8 Bed Bug Powder Diatomaceous Earth, 8oz, Yellow

Purchased this to combat a bug problem in my bedroom. I have to say at the moment it is working as promised. I applied a bit in a particular portion of my carpet, then rubbed it in using a glove, and repeated through the whole carpet in the room. I really cannot see it, which I think is amazing. Also used it on the nooks, crannies, headboard, window sill, and closet floor in my room, as well as in my storage bench. The tough part will be leaving it for 2-3 weeks as recommended, but if it does the job and kills whatever is occurring, I have no problem with that. I have to mention that I also did throw my stuffed animals and the clothes hanging in my closet into the dryer on the highest heat, and hot washed my bedding and dried it on the highest heat. There was also some serious vaccuming, shaking of rugs, and placing mothballs in the closet and in the plastic storage containers in my room, and I also have a mattress cover with a box spring cover coming to replace the one I had to get rid of. My point in saying this is that you have to do a lot more then just put the earth down and trust it will work. I think a lot of the people who have given this one or two stars have just applied it and hoped it would work without rubbing or working it into the carpet, not letting it settle, or vaccumed it up before it could take the desired effect. It is still early days, and I will update after 2-3 weeks, but as it stands right now, I am satisfied with this product. UPDATE: So after applying this and leaving it for a month, I am happy to say that I have not seen any live bugs for about a month. Within the first week I found a couple of dried out dead ones here and there, but overall the results have been grand! I have done a reapplication this past week just to be doubly sure that I have gotten rid of them from my room, but am pleased so far! NOTE: I have also taken other various steps. I removed all wooden bulky furniture from my room and replaced it with light and collapsible chairs. I hot washed and dried all my linens and hanging up clothes. I invested in a HEPA filter vacuum for better clean up. All my personal effects are now stored in plastic containers. And I caulked every crack and hole I found in my room with silicone sealant. My point is that yes there is more to this than just the dusting. I still check my mattress and box spring every other day to make sure there is not a stray at all. Hopefully this will continue and I will continue to be free of these nuisances.

I wanted to wait at least a couple of weeks before I wrote this review. First of all, I am impressed with how well this works. The other non-commercial eco bed bug sprays should be advertised along with product. I initially used sprays that killed the bed bugs but still left the problem of eggs hiding. It wasn't until I read a review which also recommended this product so I took a chance. It's been almost two weeks since I put this product in cracks, edges, furniture corners along with putting casing on my pillows, steaming and encasing my mattresses did I see a difference. I have not seen any bed bugs in just about 3 weeks. I did not have a full blown infestation but enough that we have been bitten at night. This is an excellent product but one caution as it is powder, it can be messy. I am willing to live with that especially since is actually does kill bedbugs, but not only them, I found when I put the power around my window sills, other bugs such as silverfish, beetle, etc have been dying as well. First off, we do not have bed bugs. We just bought an old house built in 1915 while a friend bought an older house from 1876. Within a week of moving in, his children were covered in bed bug bites! I saw the house during the showing (we were thinking about buying) and did not see any evidence of bedbugs. They came out of nowhere. He advised me to be proactive about preventing bedbugs so I bought this product. I cannot currently speak to whether or not it kills bed bugs because I have not seen one yet; however, I can speak to the applier head. It works very good! I think the applicator is first class. You squeeze the bottle and out comes the powder in a straight line right into any crevice you can imagine. I think the applicator is so great that I am writing this review. You'll have to look at other reviews for if it actually kills bedbugs! The four start rating is simply because I do not have sufficient evidence to rate it 5 stars. And it doesn't seem to kill spiders, which made me slightly sad, even-though that is not what is made to do.

It doesn't work fast, but I think it worked. I haven't been bit in a few days. I was being bit, my husband was not. I found only a few bed bugs. I probably got them from thrift shopping. Getting used stuff off marketplace. I had never seen a bed bug before. I found a spot on my bed skirt where there was eggs and feces. I doused my running boards with alcohol. 70%. I bought mattress covers for my mattress and my box spring. I removed all the carpets and things from under my bed. And I put a lot of powder all along the edge of the wall. But you have to be careful to just dust where you want to get them because if it's too much they will not go into it. So you have to you have to do a light dusting. But I put it all around. And it took a while before I notice any difference. Cuz I was still getting bit every night for a while. I found also one little critter hiding in my headboard. They like to go in all the little cracks and crevices. So I doused all the cracks and crevices with alcohol. And also I would put lemon grass essential oil on my arms. I was using lavender and clove but I read those are bad for pets.

S em to work pretty well. Saw a critter are two and got this and I have seen anything since then, thanks heavens for this because I wouldn’t like to be overtaken by them things. How do people get them , I don’t know but it’s not a good feeling. Doesn’t have a smell and the price was good because the product lives up to its reputation.
