Mild citrus smell, lathers great, effective on killing fleas and not the budget! My grail shampoo!
The media could not be loaded. I’m almost embarrassed that I had to order this. I had a slight flea infestation thanks to “Le Dog”. In 30 years of dog & cat ownership I have never had to deal with fleas and ticks. Fast forward to 2023, I’m now living adjacent to a dense wooded area. Stupid me, I thought those expensive monthly chew tablets prescribed by the vet for fleas & ticks took care of just that, fleas and ticks. As they say, ‘it’s complicated’! As a pet owner, I feel like I’ve let them down. Believe it or not, I never saw a flea on my dog, it was found on the indoor cat that never goes outside! My dog is a dachshund/beagle mix so he has a smooth, very dense, tight double undercoat of brown black fur to hide in, but the cat… he has a fine coat of light ginger colored fur so it couldn’t hide and got caught ‘sneaking’ about.Long story short, after a quick call to the vet, all the pets needed capstar administered which would kill fleas immediately BUT not the eggs. Unfortunately, we are talking about giving reluctant 20lb male cats a pill they would rather not have. With one dog and 4 cats in tow we headed to the vet to have the ‘flea killer’ pill administered. Meanwhile, pest control came to bomb the house & spray the yard while on our little day trip to the vet. The next step was washing/sanitizing all beddings & linen and vacuuming the floors with the dog bath last. Since I was already familiar with the Veterinary Formula product line and it being paraben free and no skin reactions on the dog, I ordered their Flea & Tick shampoo. The 16oz bottle guarantees l’ll get more than a couple of baths out of it. I also needed to strike a balance of a reliable brand that was effective in killing fleas, was not harmful or irritate my dog’s sensitivities, and was affordable. This was it. I needed it to kill any adult stragglers, immature fleas or newly hatched fleas that the pill did not. My first “sniff” impression is the shampoo does NOT have a strong chemical odor, but more of a mild citrusy scent (better than what I was expecting). It does a great job of lathering up making it easy to work into the undercoat and reach any fleas living there. There was no skin irritation, burning, or allergy to using the shampoo and it left no residue. It felt more like a sudsy conditioner. I waited closer to 8 minutes before rinsing out the shampoo. That stuff is fantastic! Oh-kay, he didn’t smell as sweet as his oatmeal shampoo BUT… he had “salon soft” and silky fur! It’s actually better than the conditioner I have been using. As for fleas? I may have seen a spec or two in the bathtub. In all likelihood, the dog was used as a flea taxi into the house & cats. Up until now, the indoor cats were not on any flea prevention, but that has changed as well as getting flea combed. As they say, ‘where there is one, there is many’. While the shampoo was effective in killing & removing current fleas on Lucky Lou, it had to be used in conjunction with the other flea prevention treatments above to get ahead of the flea-eggs crazy life-cycle. A second flea bath was given 10 days out as a precaution. Did you know one flea can lay 50 eggs? Worse, one female flea in 60 days can leave you with 20,000 if not treated. -The constant spray, wash, vacuum, of carpet, bedding & linens and the once monthly flea oral & topical treatments now has house & pets “flea-free” for 82 days! I’m also pretty sure the cooler weather has helped to control the yard population as well as planting plenty of mint about. Overall, 5 stars! Neither dog nor cats have fleas! This is my grail of flea shampoo!

WORKS!!
This shampoo did a great job killing off the fleas for my ferret. I was very hesitate on purchasing the product for my little cinnamon, but I came across the description that it’s for ferrets too and gave it a go! Within 5 minutes lathering the shampoo on my ferret, those fleas are DEAD! :))) good product I’m going to use this on my cats when my hubby gets back *need his assistance*

Amazing and Effective from the First Use!
This spray exceeded all my expectations. As soon as I applied it, the fleas started disappearing instantly. It doesn’t have a strong smell, doesn’t leave any greasy residue, and my dog tolerated it perfectly. The best part is that it protects for weeks and stops eggs and larvae from coming back. I also use it on his bedding and other areas, and it’s been key to keeping everything flea- and tick-free.Very easy to apply, affordable, and it really works. Highly recommended for anyone looking for real results without spending a fortune!

Worth the price
My dogs don’t have fleas, but I use this as a preventative alongside their flea and tick chewables. My smaller dog has very sensitive skin, and this is one of the few sprays that doesn’t irritate her. As a test, I sprayed it on my legs before taking them out in the morning. normally, mosquitoes eat me alive, but this actually seemed to keep most of them away. So while I can’t speak to how well it kills fleas, it definitely does something. The bottle isn’t very big, so you might go through it quickly, but it doesn’t have a strong or chemical smell. In my opinion, it’s worth the money. one of the best I’ve bought for under $30!

buy this
I never write reviews but I’m in awwed on how spectacular this is working. The day before I received it in the mail, my dog was being eaten alive by mosquitos and bugs I’ve never seen before at Battery Park in NYC. We’ve been here for 20 min and not one bug has been near here. 5/5

Highly Recommend, Great Protection
We have tried many different flea & tick treatments on our corgi, and most things were not working. It was becoming evident that Frontline or the other topicals were not working whatsoever. We put this on him, and massaged it into his skin all over his body while wearing gloves, it was very easy to apply. It dried pretty fast & didn’t have a smell after application. What is great is that this isn’t only for direct application on the dog, but can also be used in his kennel & bed. I also sprayed all the areas he often goes to & lays down. It’s been a month since application & he’s doing very well, and we’re not seeing any fleas/ticks on him. I would highly recommend this to anyone struggling with fleas & ticks on their pet.

You will be worse than mad if you buy this
The Vet that came up with this Veterinary Formula should lose their license. Oh and it’s NOT RETURNABLE!! So here we have a product supposedly with a formula that is vet approved that does not kill fleas. And the spray is worthless too. I left the shampoo on all three dogs for 15 minutes. Saw a couple of dead fleas go down the drain and was really hopeful. Then I dried the dogs while in the bathroom so there was no chance they could pick up any fleas. Then sprayed them with the Veterinary Formula spray. Let it dry. Not 2 hours later I combed them and found fleas. Oh did I mention while I was treating the dogs my house was being vacuumed after being mopped with dawn and water which we all know kills fleas on contact. I never had seen a flea in the house just did it as a precaution. So I sprayed the dogs again. Next morning one dog had 6 fleas and the other two had more than 10. Still haven’t seen fleas in the house. All this to say, mix Dawn in with regular pet shampoo, leave it on for 5 minutes and save $27 bucks.
