Brabantia Roll Top Bread Box (Matt Black) Large Grip Front Opening, Partially Flat Top Bread Box, Fits 2 Loaves, Ideal for Kitchen Counter

The Brabantia 33460 bread box that I purchased, in black, is very sleek and elegant; it has that classic "black monolith" look. The roll-top door closes by gravity, and there is no latch, so if you have a need to keep critters out of your breadbox, this design might not suit.The box is well-designed and functional. As other reviews have noted, the sides are a fairly thin steel; I'm not sure why they should be stronger, and it would weigh too much if the material were much thicker. But across the middle of the top, where the door retracts, the metal is rolled for reinforcement. Similarly, the edges are well-joined and reinforced. The front-bottom of the door has a metal strip over the top that is slightly curved, for a very sleek appearance and an effect that serves as a sort of "handle" to grab the door. Apparently if you prefer a more obvious and smaller handle, you can swap this out for the "small grip", Brabantia part# 381522.One reason that I selected this breadbox was that the non-door area of the top is flat, and suitable for storing items on top. I suspect that, like my past Brabantia box, one could stack these if desired. I just use the top for overflow items that I feel comfortable leaving in the open.The surfaces of this breadbox -- interior and out -- are a matte-black powdered finish that seems more durable than most breadbox coatings, and seems likely chip-resistant; it doesn't have that "painted" shiny look, and should hide fingerprints well.Being a thoughtful company that makes high-quality items, Brabantia includes a plastic spacer for the back of the box, that is supposed to reduce any possible noise from metal vibration. It's touches like these, and the 10 year guarantee, that make this breadbox well worth the price.

I like the look of it. Keeps my bread fresher, longer.

When I saw the sticker I was hoping it was the easy peel kind. Nope. I tried peeling it and it's stuck on tight. Unfortunately I had already set this up in my kitchen and put the shipping box in the recycling (which was collected this morning) so there may be no easy way to return it. I wish I had looked more closely at the entire item, but with a product of this quality, who would expect an ugly sticker that won't come off. I'm not going to potentially ruin the finish by trying to remove it. Ugh. Update: Amazon sent me a replacement. It also came with a sticker, but it was easily peeled off. So, no harm, no foul. This is the 2nd of these breadboxes I have purchased. This one is white, the first one (purchased for my daughter) is brilliant steel. They look absolutely great in the kitchen, good for bread, cookies, open bags of chips, etc., space saving and very functional. Changed rating to 5 stars.

Oh how I wish this breadbox was 3" higher, then it would be absolutely perfect. I do love the flat top which allows for storage of random items on top as seen in my hyacinth basket. Not sure what brands of bread most people buy, but in my opinion, only two thinner sized loafs would fit. I bought two of these bread boxes and use them side by side. My family loves their carbs!

I’ve got the green and it looks very nice in the all white kitchen with stainless steel and black big and small appliances . It has a bit of black and stainless steel in it and the dark green is so nice and different

I use it to store coffee supplies; coffee beans, filters, etc. Works great and keeps everything organized.

I was looking for a bread box, and came across this one here on Amazon. Based on the pictures it looks like a nice breadbox and the dimensions of it were good. I read some of the reviews that the metal may be a litle on the thin side, but i decided to order anyways, maybe their interpretation of thin was different from mine.Once the bread box arrives (I took a long time for delivery on this order, maybe a couple of weeks til I received it) I tried to open it after unpacking it, and it was stuck, i kept trying top open but no luck, i discovered that the rubber stopper in the back was bent/broken and atuck in between the metal; because the metal is so thin I was able to bend it a little and pull it out so I can get it open. The inside and outside of the bread box look good, simple black matte finish, and the perfect size to fit all the breads i buy.The problem lies in the poor construction, very thin and flimpsy metal, the rubbers on the lid constantly come off when closing it, and right now i just noticed one of the metal pins holding it together came off. For $45 I was expecting something made to last or at least to properly work. I would not recommend this product to anyone. It holds together like if it was a $10 bread box from a discount store.

Quality product with a contempoary design that fits well into our newly renovated galley kitchen. Baked goods store much better here than in our fridge. We also appreciate not needing to use our limited cupboard space.
