Powerful story of family bonds
This is the story of the three Grey sisters who lost their mother at a young age and grew up on a Pacific-Northwest coastal ranch with a distant father.Winona, the oldest is smart but tends to be a judgmental know-it-all. Aurora is the middle child who plays the part of peacemaker in the family. Vivi Ann, the youngest is a headstrong free spirit who takes an action that forever impacts all their lives. If you’re not a fan of love stories, don’t worry, because this book has much more to offer. It is a murder mystery; a legal thriller, a tale of racial tension and discord; a story of small town folks and ranchers; and a generational family saga about devotion, mistakes, crushed hopes, renewed belief and ultimate redemption. All of these themes are wound into and around the relationships of three siblings whose sisterly bond is tested to its limits.

great book
Great book. Could have taken out 100 pages for a better, tighter story.

A wonderful story of family strength and perseverance!
True Colors is another wonderful book by this talented author, Kristin Hannah. This story was intriguing and gripping as it deals with the lives, loves, and problems that this family has not only with men but also with each other.Three sisters share their issues with each other and must deal with some difficult problems when the oldest sister, Winona, loves a man who doesn't feel the same about her but falls in love with her youngest sister, Vivi Ann. Things escalate as Winona tries to deal with this as her heart is breaking. Vivi Ann is clearly oblivious to her sister's feelings and while planning her marriage to this man falls head over heels with a cowhand who works for her father. One thing leads to another.During all this time the cowhand gets into trouble with the law and finds himself in jail. Winona who is a lawyer doesn't believe Dallas is innocent and refuses to defend him. The middle sister, Aurora, has marriage issues of her own but tries to support her sisters who can't seem to get along. This story was a wonderful testament to the strength and perseverance of families in spite of everything that threatens to tear them apart including an unsupportive and cold-hearted father. I hated to see this end and would like to see this continue in another chapter of the Grey sisters.I highly recommend all Hannah books!

Very good family story
This was a great family story, and I liked how it had the plot twist that really did free Dallas, yet left a family broken. A great dynamic of emotions being explored.

A family keeping it together after a husband is convicted of murder
I liked this book, my third Kristin Hannah. Not as good as the other two I read, but a good family story of love and loss

Families are hard! if you survive
Another wonderful Kristen Hannah book. This one is about a family and 3 sisters. It’s how those you love the most can disappoint you the most. It’s also about father’s and daughters and how fathers can disappoint daughters. This book has all the twists and turns you would expect and some lessons to take to heart along the way. 5 stars

A far cry from what I expected.
This is a long book to read. I thought that the first 250-300 pages read like a romance novel which surprised me because I have read other books by Kristin Hannah that hooked me right from the beginning, however, this one did not. Trite was what I thought of this one until I started to read the rest of the story where there was action, drama, and intrigue. That’s where the story started to draw me in. I gave it 3 stars because the beginning was not compelling. My book club ladies liked the book a lot, so use your own judgment. If you read The Goldfinch by this author and liked it, this might be a disappointment as it was for me.
