Great for the free motion quilter in training
I am very new to free motion quilting. I did some research looking for helpful tools and the magic bobbin along with the supreme slider were items I saw repeatedly recommended by popular quilters. I bought both items hoping it would help me as I learn to free motion quilt. I bought the smaller supreme slider because it was recommended for people new to free motion quilting rather than the larger mat. I also choose the smaller mat because I use an attached quilting table on my machine. I do not have a set in machine. I use painters tape to help keep the mat in place on my machine. I have read a few reviews where people have sewed through their mat because their quilt grabs it and pulls it under the needle. The mat was very easy to install. The only thing that is a pain is checking your bobbin. I do not have a low bobbin alert on my machine so I have to look under the mat which means pulling up my painters tape and re-taping. That would be the only negative issue I have. Even though I bought the small mat I noticed an extreme difference in the way the fabric glides over the machine base. It is much smoother and easier for me to change directions. I use Machingers gloves and I am able to just use the tips of my fingers and move the quilt around. I believe this is one of the best tools I have bought to help me learn how to free motion quilt.

Works even better than I expected
I can't believe how much of a difference this makes in the ease of free motion quilting. I am just a beginner but I've already seen an improvement since getting this earlier Today! It sticks to the machine as promised. I used painter tape to secure the edges just in case as I've read others advise to do but I think that's probably only needed when doing a larger quilt. It seems like it would have been fine without tape for the small 6" samples I was working on. The material moves much better now. My curves are smoother and less jagged looking. It just took a few stitches to get used to the super slickness so I didn't have to push the material as hard as I was used to before getting the slider and it almost got away from me near the edge but I think I was over that learning curve on my first practice piece. Pros: material glides well and the sticky back keeps it in place. Con: It was a little tricky for me getting bobbin thread up the first time but it's so worth it.

I think it would make a good and thoughtful gift for the quilter in your life
For $25, this helps make free motion just a bit easier on large and weighty quilts. You have to remember to drop your feed dogs though and you do need to remove it each time you have to replace your bobbin. I'm not sure I would buy this again for myself. But, I think it would make a good and thoughtful gift for the quilter in your life.

Great product!!!
I'm a novice free motion quilter....and this was money well spent....it helps, and I needed all the help I could get....It helped keep my blood pressure down....It's good value, especially for the money. (I bought 2 sizes for 2 machines....they work great...)

The slider works fine. However
The slider works fine. However, one must be careful. It tears incredibly easy. I think they need some sort of reinforcement around the hole. I didn't raise the needle all the way up and immediately ripped a slice in the slider. I taped it and life goes on . ....

Great Product
I am a Free Motion Quilting newbie, and decided to order this because so many instructors recommended it. I do too! It definitely makes the movement of your quilt sandwich much easier to control. Yes, it's expensive, but then again quilting is not an inexpensive undertaking, especially if you aspire to professional quality production as I do. I have an older model Baby Lock, Companion 1550 close to 20 years old, and with the Supreme Slider, you can free motion quilt on ANY machine that has a straight stitch! No need to have a machine which has the option of lowering your feed dogs. So, don't invest in an expensive machine if you don't have to, get the Supreme Slider and invest in your technique first. There will always be the opportunity to upgrade your machine after you have master the technique and are looking for a new challenge.

Essential for machine quilting
This is my second Supreme Slider after my first finally wore out after many years of use. I quilt on my home sewing machine if my quilt isn't queen size or larger. I always use Supreme Slider to allow the fabric to slip over the base of my sewing machine without dragging. Without the Supreme Slider, the bottom fabric will drag and pucker, making the finished quilting look messy - but you don't realize this until you're finished. I use the Supreme Slider when I'm sewing fancy decorative stitches on art quilts, too, to ease the fabric along.

Makes Sewing Easier
For years, I put off buying one of these because I could free motion quilt on my sewing machine without them. I have bought so many gadgets and tools and felt this might be just one more that I really didn't need. Finally, I ordered one because it was recommended for a thread painting course I was taking. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of movement this added to my work. I no longer had to work at moving my fabric. If you are like me and wondering, I believe it is worth the purchase.
