My house has lathe-and-plaster walls. In the past I've installed hollow wall anchors (e.g., ASIN B07V3HBTPF not included) by "torqueing" the anchor screw sufficiently to mushroom the anchor end inside the wall. But torqueing pushes and twists the anchor head into the plaster and mars the plaster surface. An anchor setting tool pulls on the anchor screw while pushing on the anchor head; all force is applied to the anchor, no force is applied to the plaster.This anchor setting tool is constructed from heavy gauge steel and aluminum. The compression levers are plastic cushioned and provide sufficient leverage so that hand great strength is not required. The tool trigger releases easily.The anchor setting tool arrives with no instruction sheet but the webpage provides sufficient instructions: Drill a proper sized wall hole, loosen the anchor screw just a tad, tap the anchor into the wall, and loosen the anchor screw until ~1/4" of thread is visible. Grasp the anchor screw with the tool, compress the tool levers while holding the tool against the anchor head (this mushrooms the anchor end inside the wall without forcing the plaster), then pull the tool trigger to release the anchor screw. Hollow wall LARGE anchors might require then tightening the anchor screw until only ~1/4" thread is visible and applying the anchor setting tool a second time.

Don't trust just driving your Molly into drywall and just spinning the screw to expand. This tool is really the correct way to set Molly bolts. Large trigger pulls the Molly to expand behind the drywall. Small trigger releases to set next anchor. Fast and well built.

If you’re installing hollow wall anchors, this is a must! It stops you from stripping out the hole and the threads of the machine screw.

This tool is just unnecessary.

How mny times have you put an anchor in and have it spin, tearing the drywall up vice compressing and gripping the drywall. Like a pop rivet gun for wall anchors, compresses the anchor with no twisting force required. Every anchor I put in set perfectly.

Works like a charm. I was able to get all my curtain rods hung on my old plaster walls. The shipment kept getting delayed, hence 4 stars not 5

This tool is a must for installing the molly bolts in the wall. It makes it so much better than trying to use a screwdriver to pull the bolt out and then screwing it back in.
