Can we use a 60 Watt bulb? for study you need to have 60 Watt so 40 Watt is not enough.

I was looking for a halogen bulb and ended up with a Phillips a 75w replacement which uses 53w and is a bright bulb. Haven’t had a problem with it. I do cross stitch and need a bright light to stitch with. Some of the work is quite close and need to bring closer for a very bright light to light up work.

Can the lamp shades be removed? I want to use large bulbs that are 5in in diameter.
