Very effective and sensitive!
I bought this to replace my old Escort, which stopped working after nearly 20 years. I like that this one comes on as soon as I start the car. I don't have to remember to turn it on! And I like that it is very sensitive without false alarms.

Great value for a quality Radar Detector from Escort.
I have been an Escort customer since 1982 with the original passport. This new Max 3 does not disappoint. It has excellent range especially on the all important KA bands and it is extremely quiet to false alarms once the GPS gets ahold of the false signals around town. I tested it against my Uniden R-4 and it responds neck and neck with it. It does a great job with the vehicles that emit K band like Hondas Mazdas and such. The Unidens are OK but the quality is lacking. The Escort Max 3 feels substantial in your hand. I also had a speaker fail in my R-1 and both the R-1 and R-3 have faded display issues. I will run the R-4 in dark mode to prevent any fading screen. I Highly recommended Escorts Max 3 for all your radar monitoring needs.

Outperforms my more expensive but outdated 9500iX
My 9500iX finally died after 10-years of Florida dash-mounted heat and direct sunshine. I spoke with Escort about the new line of detectors because they were REALLY expensive and I just don’t drive THAT fast THAT often to justify the price. I asked escort which units perform as well as my old 9500, and the gentleman laughed and said “All of them”! I selected the Max3 based on price and the customer support comments. I updated it upon receipt, set my default setting and mounted it in the car. I couldn’t be more pleased with the ease of use - the interaction with the real-time smart phone app and the operation of the Max3 and the easy to read display. Use of words & color shifts for preset (Excess Speed etc) warnings helps me keep it sane on the Interstate as well as the SWS (Safety Warning System) announcements and warnings for school zones, highway construction work, etc.Overall - I’m extremely pleased with the purchase and I’ve experienced zero issues with the unit.

Accurate
So far so good! My daughter has a bit of a lead foot so she asked for a radar detector for Christmas. After doing my research I settled on this one. I like the excellent suction on the windshield mount. The warning sound isn’t annoying. It’s thin and seems to be top quality without breaking the bank. So far it’s kept her out of several tickets

DOES NOT WORK - DO NOT BUY!!!
Does not alert to Ka radar within sight. Stalker tests their radar guns 100 yards from my home just north of the Dallas County line. I have had many opportunities to test if this radar detector works. It fails to alert to Ka, while an older iX will pickup the Ka emissions far before I can see the Stalker test vehicle. I don't understand how this can be sold as a radar detector.

All you need to protect yourself
After trying a uniden R8 for 2 weeks (see my comments under Uniden R8) and returning it due to too many un necessary arrows crappy learning features, excessive false signals etc. I went back to Escort and purchased the Max3 and used it on my 1600 mile round trip from southwest Florida to Knoxville, Tn and back. This unit is all you need and costs less than half. It appears to learn fast, minimal false alarms, plug and play built quality seems ok. It did a great job keeping money out of the coffers of the state of Georgia and it’s over enforcement of speeders by its storm troopers. I am not a techno guru but have had radar detectors for over 20 years (Escort X50)and I am judging as someone who travels at 90 MPH + regularly and bottom line is that as a regular person, you don’t need anything more than this and the WAZE AP. Arrows? I personally chill at the point of getting an alert, you? Or do you evaluate based on location before taking your foot of the accelerator pedal? Only complaint is that on my Lexus GX 460, the letters are a bit small due to the distance between my sitting position and the unit on the windshield. I will see how the letter size looks in my Porsche 997.2 as it’s much closer. Speed doesn’t cause accidents, not driving to road conditions and stupid drivers who hog the left lane causing drivers to maneuver around them does but that is obviously rarely enforced. Happy motoring.
