French Classics in French and English: Bel-Ami by Guy de Maupassant (Dual-Language Book) (English and French Edition)

i am bi-lingual and often read French books. I am interested in the art of translation and this set-up is awesome. French on the left and English on the right but each line corresponds and if one language is more verbose than the other, spaces are left so you always know exactly what is being translated. love it.

Fantastic dual-language book - good for brushing up if it's been awhile since you've read in French.

This is a wonderful novel. Large text that's easy to read. It's nice to have the English translation on the opposite page, however I teach French and I can tell you that it is a bit flawed, therefore I gave it 4 stars.

I enjoy dual language books. I think they're an effective way to learn a language. However, I've found that many of the dual language books out there are rather slim. Many are collections of short stories, and even in total the stories do not amount to a whole lot of words. This book is different. It took me a long time to read all of it -- which I am glad about. That meant there was much French to study. The translation seemed accurate and lively, and the story was quite interesting, too. There are a lot of yummy details to eat up about late 19th-century French life.
