Does what it's made for

I use these for storing HO scale model trains. Perfect width and depth, and I line the compartments with felt so nothing gets scratched. They fit nicely stored vertically on my bookshelf.

For many years, I had a similar two-lid case such as this that had thin cheap plastic. The cover broke and I thus started a quest to find a replacement for the small paint jars that I stored inside. I wanted something a lot better than my former carrying case. This is an excellent case that suits my needs. The plastic is rugged, the carrying handle thick and robust to the hand, and the locking mechanisms tight and secure. It’s as if this case was designed for the construction worker. I’ve no qualms about carrying this around or fears that the lids would pop open and the contents would spill out. The orange Snap-Locks snap tightly and secure---they’re beefy tabs that won’t break after repeated opening and closing and really do snap tightly to close the lids securely without any gaps. The product engineering tolerances are superb. I really admire the rectangular handle and the flat plastic shelves that don’t bow; therefore, when I open a lid with the case sitting vertically, the jars don’t spill out because the shelves are perfectly level. There are fifteen 6cm x 6.5cm and two 4.5cm x 9.5cm compartments on each side (30 square and four rectangle compartments total per box). The orange vertical tabs can be slid and removed to expand the size of the fifteen square compartments to create longer rows. The 4.5cm x 9.5cm rectangle compartments are fixed spaces on top. The back plastic wall is black with tiny grid groove texture. The lid plastic isn’t entirely clear transparent, but more of a textured translucent clear; nonetheless, one can still see the contents inside. The product design and engineering make for a great carrying case for all sorts of small parts and objects with no worries of losing anything once the four orange Snap-Tabs are locked tight on top.
