Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over the last year I have searched for Primavera P6 books and kept coming up short for a book that followed a self teaching path. I read the Admin Manual (really did) , Reference Manual, Oracle P6.2 Training Guide and a couple other mini manuals from suppliers. I even installed P6v7 on my own and configured the WebAccess module (following admin manual) but when it came to using the features I was at a loss. Then I found this book on Amazon and NOTHING COMES CLOSE. The book gives you a nice, to the point, intro on scheduling with a Primavera flare and walks you through step by step with nice visuals. To be honest I am on Chapter 4 and really got excited, I may stay up the entire night :) but anyhow this is my first and probably only review but if you really want to learn P6 and like to teach yourself and don't want to pay the fees for the training classes this is the way to go. Happy Scheduling!

User Friendly Manual
This manual will help new users to the software, regardless of their experience level with this scheduling software. It is easy to follow and understand, both for troubleshooting and instruction. I have looked at and reviewed several aftermarket manuals for P6, and this one is BY FAR the one I would most recommend!

For project managers?
The jacket cover and other promotional verbiage for this book point out that it is not written by project manager, suggesting that somehow makes it better than if written by a worldly scared PM. I am not sure that is the case, as I found it basically a lot of screen shots and how to use this or that function, but without providing any history of PV or its philosophical approach. Is it just MS Project on steroids, which is Excel on steroids? PV is a heavy duty PM tool, maybe a little much to fully use all its features unless your in a mature organization. Now integrated with Oracle's suite of tools, it must surely be great for auto or air craft manufacturing, and the like, but maybe less so for IT and software, where Agile and Scrum practices are proving successful. This book hardly seems to do it justice. It's more like a quick start guide, with a lot of page space filled with screen shots.

Planning professional
As a professional planner seeking to gain knowledge in the use of the software I use in my profession, I have found Paul Harris to be the very best source of information in this field.

Great
Good book and will help you when using P6. If you already have a great idea of P6 the book is pointless then.

Good Reference Manual
As user unfriendly as Oracle P-6 Software is (Give me back my Suretrac and P-3). This is really a good reference manual for either the beginner or the seasoned veteran Primavera P-6 User.
