Invest in a decent stamp/ink pad before you start!
Love the idea behind this but the quality of the ink pad absolutely stinks! It is SO thin and certainly would not live up to a classroom of children all having a turn! The 24 rubber stamps each measuring approximately 2.5cm x 2.5cm are cheap quality but if inked correctly and pressed down hard do make a good impression. Our children enjoyed writing their names and creating a secret message. Please note that the actual images are not 2.5cm each but smaller depending on the image. SO what's the book like? After starting with an introduction it moves on to talk about the hieroglyph alphabet. It then lists the alphabet in English, along with the hieroglyph and the sound it is used for. Some letters have more than one hieroglyph attached to them depending on the sound being made. Throughout the book there are puzzles quizzing you on what you have just read. Answers are provided in the back. How about the orientation? What is a cartouche? Several helpful phrases are provided so you can send your own secret messages. Learn how to count with hieroglyphs, about the scribes and the paper they wrote on. Of course no book on hieroglyphs would be complete without the mention of the Rosetta Stone which comes towards the end of this book. SO despite the poor quality of the ink pad I still recommend this book if you are studying Ancient Egypt as it allows children to actually practice what they have learned.

Fun with hierorlyphs
This is indeed a fun set. Top quality hieroglyph stamps and a booklet packed with 'how to' info and facts about Ancient Egyptian life. I may be a big kid but I love it.

This was bought as a Christmas present for my grandson and he was very disappointed when he opened the pack up to find the stamp pad was completely mouldy and unusable, and therefore he could not use the stamps. Is it possible to get a replacement ink pad please?

Very difficult to lock to buckle in place after you've cut i it to the desired length. Video doesn't help at all..........its modified to look easy to lock in place. DON'T BUY IT!!

Very nice book (I'm an adult but still enjoyed it as a simple little guide.) I mostly purchased for the stamps. I do wish they were a bit smaller but overall I am satisfied. I got a duplicate on at Christmas so I resold it on Poshmark and I used the stamps from mine to stamp out a To & From label (an extra one) on a pkg of books on Ancient Egypt that I sent out for a 9 year old whose Mom bought it for him. I heard he loved seeing my label in hieroglyphs! ;) lol Awesome fun for kids no doubt since I had fun doing it and I'm far older than that. ;)
