Fantastic diffuse light for photographing negatives
I came across dozens of medium and large format 60-100 year old photo negatives after my dad died and decided to digitize them. I tried using my regular flatbed scanner, with pretty poor results due to Newton's rings and the scanner picking up every imperfection on the surface of the film. I got slightly better results by using my computer monitor as white backlight and trying to take photos of the negatives with my phone, but the pixels were very visible and I had to blur and sharpen the image to try to compensate for it, and it didn't work at all on the old color photos. I saw how much it would cost to buy a proper photo scanner, but I really couldn't justify the cost. This little backlight was the perfect solution for me. I put the light panel in a shoebox and use something like a pair of identical rulers to hold my phone flat above it, and I sit in a dark room photographing my negatives. I've got some post-it note brand tape that I use to keep some of the curled negatives flat, and then I use GIMP (free photo editing software) to crop, rotate, invert, and change the color levels. Each photo takes maybe 2 minutes total to digitize. And I'm picking up so much detail in the images and almost none of the tiny scratches and specks on the negatives themselves. It's fantastic and didn't cost me hundreds or thousands of dollars. These two images show the same photo negative; the first was done with this light panel, the second with my regular flatbed scanner.

Nice little light box
Nice little light box. I use it to copy microfilm and it works well. It is small enough to fit between the feet of the copy stand I have. The light seems to be very even and the images come out fine, with no "artifacts" such as lines. Seems just as bright on batteries (included) as on the USB cord.

Very Useful Device
I was looking for a "small" light table for reviewing slides and tracing documents, and this Rybozen unit has proven to be just what I was looking for. It's small, yet large enough for the task, weighs next to nothing, runs on 6 AAA batteries or can be powered by USB, comes with a charging cable and soft case, is super portable, and is very affordable. So long as your needs are simple you might find this device could work for you as well. I rate it 5 Stars.

Met all needs!
I used this to light up slides and take pictures of them and then send them to get printed at Wal-Greens from my phone. Excellent for what I needed it for and the pictures turned out amazing. I was thrilled as the slides are 50+ years old! Very bright, easy to use, batteries included.

Great value
Great... I used it to digitize about 15,000 negatives and slides with no problems. Color balance is very good. What color correction I needed was probably due to the age of the slides and negatives, some over 60 years old. Beats using a cell phone hands down.

DIY Slide & Negative Digitizer
Too many negative comments about the all-in-one slide and negative digitizers prompted me to make my own. This little light pad is one of the elements and it works like a charm.

GREAT SIZE - SMALL AND COMPACT WHICH I LIKE!
I have been going through some very old negatives of my parents that are various sizes of 2x4's and 3x4's and having this light panel has made it great seeing the history of my parents. This light panel is just the right size for these negatives because I didn't want something large and bulky. To use with the light panel, I downloaded the Kodak Mobile Film Scanner and together they make a great tool. With this app, the pictures are downloaded on my phone. If you're looking for a good light panel - purchase this one!
