Pro-level quality, entry-level price tag
I’m going to be real here and admit that this wasn’t my first choice in mics, but I had to know how it would stack up against the SM58s I’m used to. In terms of feel, sound quality, features, and includes equipment, at worst, it’s a dead heat. Compared to its vastly more expensive counterpart, ambient noise rejection is identical, pickup pattern also identical, the Behringer has a very slightly darker natural tone (nothing that can’t be compensated for with a little EQ-tweaking), the weight and feel are practically identical, and really, the only area where it notably falls behind is that it has fairly little shock resistance, but a) this can be combatted with a decent stand and/or shockmount and b) it is absolutely unbeatable for the price. I’ve had a long run of good luck with Behringer, but even so, I was skeptical of this mic starting out; the run continues.

Makes my voice sound quite nice, I really like it for the money
Love the sound of my voice in this mic. It’s quite a nice microphone with decent build quality, but cheap enough to replace should something happen to it.

Grainy, I mean gain-y, but can be EQ’d to sound great.
Some budget dynamic mics have a way of making a bass voice sound papery or muddy. This one is a bit more sensitive with a clearer profile and strong mids. Vocals sound natural with the only flaw being some graininess and thinness. The design and branding on this suggests they were trying to clone the SM58a with a neodymium magnet. I don’t think it sounds professional enough for live use in concert halls and pro studios with perfect sounding acoustics, but I could see a musician using this at a small gig in a venue with “dead” acoustics and it coming to life there. I use it in my home studio (with impromptu room treatments such as a wall of books and drapes) and it delivers well. My suggestion: Pair this with a $30 phantom powered gain enhancer and that should clear things up and deliver some needed headroom. Even though I had to work around the mic’s limitations, I wholly recommend the Behringer BA85A to anyone who is looking to build a home studio on a shoestring budget. Dynamic mics will always have their place, and fortunately they tend to be easier to work with across a broad range of applications, compared to some condenser mics. This mic’s gainy sound and well calibrated mids and higher register will help you power your vocals through a loud instrument mix without having to use a condenser to capture more mid and high end detail. Not having to use a condenser means you can more easily filter out room noise and sibilants.

Low noise
Best budget microphone. Low noise, although requires quite a bit of gain.

Great mic & (obviously) great price
I have a Shure SM58S & bought the Behringer SL 84C as a spare. I called my wife over (also a musician - concert pianist) and she couldn't tell the difference. The only difference I see is that the Behringer has more plastic & is lighter weight. For the quality of the product the price is amazing. Update: I gave away the SL 84C to a friend who runs an open mic night (he loves it). Decided to purchase the BA 85A & try that one out. It's also a very impressive mic. One thing I read in the reviews (and saw on YouTube) is that the Behringer BA 85A has more handling noise then the Shure mics. This is simply not true. FYI: The blue rubber that goes around the mic was missing on mine. No big deal & not worth returning for such a minor issue.

Worth the purchase!
Surprisingly good. I would buy again. I have friends that come over once a month to jam. I needed an extra mic. I wasn’t expecting a lot but was surprised how well this sounded. I actually prefer this over my Electrovoice mic that I paid 10 times the amount I paid for this.

Good, but extremely Quiet!
I'm new to microphones. The last one I had was plastic, from walmart, in the 90's. I saw a lot of positive info for this one and it's good and bad. It's rock solid and heavy, you could use this thing as a weapon. So a plus that it is durable, less so with the weight. Plug in was easy with an extra 3 pin to comp mic plug adapter. The end result of a recording is the most crystal clear that I have ever heard my voice. I was actually surprised at how I sound in a good recording. That said when I initially record the audio it is so incredibly quiet that I can't hear it at all unless I'm absolutely screaming into the mic. I've researched and turned up every setting I can find in Microsoft and Audacity, but that just got it to a level of very very quiet speech. So every recording now has to go through a few steps to get it to a reasonable level. It's no the end of the world, but I really didn't expect to have to jump through hoops to get a good recording. Perhaps I'm missing something, as I am new to this, but it's not like there are instructions provided so you just expect simple plug and play usage.

Practically A Beta 58 At A Fraction Of The Price
Behringer blowing it out of the water again!! How can they produce such a great mic for such a cheap price? I was so blown away by the price-to-value ratio that I bought 3 more, for a total set of 4 of these vocal mics. They're perfect for live and stage applications. Almost indistinguishable from the Sure Beta 58, these mics get the job done and you don't fret if one gets damaged because you can buy 5 or 6 of these for the cost of a single Beta 58. Behringer, how are you doing this?

Absolute Kaufempfehlung!
