This is a high quality and heavy granite mortar and pestle with just the right amount of roughness to do the job. I received the set as a gift and noticed a chip in the head of the larger pestle during the seasoning process. That is the only reason I did not give five stars. I have requested a replacement pestle and will re-rate when/if I receive a replacement. ChefSofi responded to my request within 24 hours and just a few days later I received a replacement pestle. Very impressive. I highly recommend this set. Not only is is very functional, it's also beautiful. And, the customer service is the best I've experienced. Very impressed. Totally worth five stars!

This is a great utensil! It’s big enough to make guacamole, crush garlic and many other things. I actually used it to make mofongo! Ummmmm, Yammy! :)

This product is AWESOME. I am amazed by how heavy/sturdy it is and the pestle made muddling a pineapple no work at all compared to what I was doing! A really solid product!

This mortar Pestle set is incredible. It allows for the very best guacamole and other foods. The Mortar and Pestle does not leave any grainy residue if the mortar is properly prepared with rice. Also, the CS at Chef-sofi is there for you with any questions. I had a defect in the mortar sent--- and within day, i was sent a replacement. This is a top company!!!! I highly recommend.

OBSEEEEESSED! I’ve recently gotten into the whole Homestead life, making everything from scratch that I can cut out all preservatives and crap food that we are able to. I learned that you can make your own pesto, garlic powder, onion powder, etc. I received this and followed the instructions to wash, dry, season, and while I was incredibly impatient for the two days it took for me to complete this. It was so worth it. I made my own garlic pesto this week, using my basil plant and fresh garlic clove and shoved that inside of a chicken that I baked and holy cow. Freaking amazeballs! I initially intended to use a neighbor‘s coffee grinder, but when I got it to my house, unplugged it and it didn’t work. So I did what any same person would do and went shopping and found this. The great thing about this is that it’s not electronic and it’s never going to die on you and if you take care of it, it will last you your lifetime and then some. It does take a bit of a practice and I’m still learning how to grind into a solid paste as opposed to having a few flex in here and there, but I will get better at it. I got the 2 cup one and let me tell you this thing is heavy duty, it’s got some weight to it. The 2 cup size is great because even if I make small things, I have the option to make larger things if I want to and if I wanna make something I’m able to can or seal it. I got the black option which goes with the colors of items already on my counter.
