Jigging for fish is one of the very first techniques ever derived and today's angler has evolved the presentation to an art form. Penn understands vertical jigging and has added a complete category of jigging rods to the Rampage family.

Value in theory but QC issues.
So many mixed feelings on this rod. When it was working it worked really well. It feels good when fighting both large and small fish and the grip is amazing.Problem is that the cheap cost seems to come from quality control. 4th eye from tip had a hairline fracture that only became and issue when rod was really flexed and then it would instantly cut the line. Epoxy around a number of the eyes is also separating. Then came the major failure pictured. Yes it was from a medium sized reef shark, but it survived the whole fight until my wife was going to cut the leader and the shark gave a last ditch shake. It was not a high stick, both my hands were on foam and the rod was barely above parallel. Wife was touching neither line nor rod yet.I wouldn’t have even thought about a shark breaking a rod if it weren’t for the odd strength configuration this rod displays. When trolling a 4oz you can see an odd bend right above where it snapped which is where it changes from solid tip to hollow. The tip seems to be a fair deal stronger than the thinnest part where it is hollow. Their intent was to make the rod less prone to high stick snaps, but it seems to over stress the shaft right there.Rod is a year old, mainly pulls in 20” bluefish and is just the backup to my Penn Carnage Bluewater. Never transported or stored anywhere it could get damaged.

Get what you pay for
The eyes popped out or the top guide before it was out of the box. You must have a reel tie down as the screw on reel holder will not hold anything without stripping and popping loose. As for the rod itself, it can handle anything you want to throw at it. From large AJ’s to 12’ hammerheads. I have caught them all with no issues after replacing all the guides and locking the reel down with a tie down.

Don't buy it! AWFUL QUALITY
Went tuna fishing and while playing the second fish an under 10 poung yellow fin the rod snapped !!!The rod (still in the wrapper and using for the first time )was not under that much pressure and the fish was taking line off the reel.Obviously a design fault in this rod it should have never broke in those circumstances

Amazing!
Bought the pole and put the PENN fathom star reel.Amazing strength! Feels good in hand. Best rod I've used by far! I use to buy abu Garcia product but they kept breaking. Switched over to PENN not a single reel or rod has broken!"Got snagged at the bottom pulled up a tire I would say maybe 30 pounds full of mud and water!"

Nice rod!
Very light but sturdy. I use it for offshore fishing and I have no complaints. Grip feels very comfortable, especially for my big hands. Would buy again.

No roller for me
(BUYER BEWARE) pics are very deceiving... did not get the pole i thought i was getting. This pole does not have a roller eye in rear like pictured, which is the only reason i bought it.

Straight Trash
This rod is trash. After just two fishing trips, the metal ring inside the guides broke. This area is really jagged and rough now so it cuts my line. Basically, it is no good now.
