Highly recommended. Simplicity and accuracy at its best.
We tried at last count more than 8 different translator devices of different makers and this one is the best of the best for us. We like the design and the feel of the product, feels expensive. Pocketalk Classic does exactly what it advertises, translate. The bells and whistles added to the features list on other translators were just too much for my mother in law to operate and a siphon off the quality of it intended use. This one is very easy to use, straight forward in concept and execution, and so far has always been accurate; which we found was actually quite important. Best of the best regarding volume, size, simplicity, performance, and integration into a social or family setting. Highly recommended.

Perfect for foreign student
My daughter is in 2nd grade and got a Ukraine refugee added to her class. I felt so bad for such a young girl in a class where she had no idea what was going on. The teacher was trying to use Google translate on her student iPad which took awhile and didn't always work. I bought this for the teacher to use with the little girl. It works so much better, is fast and even the kids got to use it to talk to her! Definitely worth it.

Must Have in Travel
My wife and I bought this to use when we traveled to Europe in 2023. We wanted no problems when expressing ourselves with the locals of five countries we visited. This worked great ! It needs a WiFi connection (which is the only drawback) to converse. We used it everyday in ordering meals and buying items at grocery stores. Our best use was a 4 hour train ride from Munich to Vienna. We sat across a woman from Hungry who spoke no English. With the translator we passed it back and forth carrying on a conversation the whole time flawlessly. Mind you, without the device we would've had no contact with her and we would've looked out the window the whole time !

SUPER DISAPPOINTING - Don't bother
Edit 9-26-2022The replacement unit also had an expired SIM, it HAS to be connected to wifi to work, and and frankly it doesn't always do a faithful translation (or even CLOSE) even when connected to wifi.I'd hoped to use this while traveling in Vietnam, but it was a total fail. NO global connectivity and it HAS to be connected to wifi all the time. This is an obvious screw-up. How can I ask for the wifi password when I don't speak the language to be able ask for the password? In conclusion, stay away, don't waste your money. This was a big, BIG disappointment and I can't stress this enough. I won't say it ruined my trip, but my trip could have been SO SO SO much better if this thing had worked the way they promise it does.I give it one star, and even that's being generous.Original Review-------------------------------------------------------------------------Why did I give this only 1 star? The main reason is that it came with a "Global SIM" that expired over a year ago, making this thing nearly useless. This translator is supposed to come with a "Built In Two Year Data Plan: Travel and communicate confidently in 133 countries". But when I turn this on and go to the Connectivity option, I get a message stating that the SIM expired on August 8th, 2021. (I'm writing this on Sept 7, 2022).So the phone plan doesn't work at all. Without a valid SIM card the only way to use it is over wifi. That's fine for when you're in a fixed location (assuming you can get the wifi password) but without the phone plan it's useless for going out and about, ordering food in restaurants, buying stuff in a store, asking for directions, etc etc.Essentially it reduces the usefulness of the translator by about 95%.I've ordered a replacement that should get here before I leave for Vietnam and we'll see if that one has an expired SIM or not, and I'll update my review when that happens.

I tried Spanish, English, French and Arabic. Non of them work. No translation accuracy at all!
Do not get this garbage! I try 4 lenguages and no. Of them were translated with accuracy. The dual instant translation it is a joke. For travel you better of with a paper dictionary if your phone does not have signa. This translation does not work and it is expensive. I used outside the returning window so I can’t even return it. So if you get one, try it right away to see of it works in the language you need or return it. For me this is one more garbage!

Exactly what I was looking for.
Comes with an embedded global sim good for 2 years to include a slot to add your own SIM card. So when the 2 year global SIM is expired you can put your SIM in or renew the global SIM. If you don’t have either you can connect it to wifi as well. From my experience wifi works just as good as the SIM. The real time translation is quick takes about 1 second to translate. Very easy to navigate through the settings. I also started using the device to start learning different languages as well. I would speck in English and have it translate to Japanese and speak it in Japanese so it can translate it to English. I recommend it to anyone that’s traveling.

So far it's great!
I buy everyhing from Amazon, and for all products, there are always negative reviews so sometimes you never really know what you're going to get. I just got this translator today, and played around with it, and in my opinion, it seems to be great. I plan to use it for Italian however I tested the device myself today using French since I don't know any Italian, but I do know some French. I tried testing the translations in both directions, and it picked up what I said accurately both in English and in French with no problems. I only used simple sentences because for travel purposes that is all I anticipate using. I'm not planning on engaging in deep and lengthy intellectual conversations with this thing. Just stuff like "where is the train station" or "is there an ice cream shop nearby", etc. When I return from my trip in a couple of months, I can update this review with some real-world experiences and see if it stands up to the job.
