The Passing of an Art
As someone who still regularly enjoys writing letters to friends on stationery with pen & ink, I find this book to be wonderful. I will be brief, since much of what I wrote about volume 1 applies again here. In particular, I enjoy seeing the reproductions of the actual letters in the author’s hand. Again, there is a cross-section of letters from the famous and the unknown. Unlike reading a collection of letters, it is difficult to get a real sense of a person from one example, but it is fascinating nonetheless. For anyone, like me, who mourns the passing of the letter, this is a great book.

Fantastic
I love how this book is laid out. Not only do you get to read the letters but you get to see what the letters looked like. I'm glad that I got the second book.

Must have.
I have volumes 1 and 2 of this book and cannot say enough nice things about them. What a wonderful collection. Emotional, informative, and utterly captivating.

Enjoyable but Kindle Edition Missing Transcriptions
I enjoyed volume 1 and most of volume 2. At present, in the Kindle edition several letters (maybe 10 give or take) only include the images without the transcriptions, which I found difficult (if not impossible) to read on my tablet or pc.

and a nice note of thanks with it as well
Nicley wrapped package so there were no bent corners on the book, and a nice note of thanks with it as well. Love the book and would recommed the bookseller as well. Thanks so much!

Kindle Edition contains unreadable letters
Be forewarned. The Kindle edition contains no transcription of some of the letters so they are unreadable.

Interesting and touching
All the letters are worth reading, and many are outstanding: The feelings they convey, the literary value, the humour, what they narrate, the historic context, who wrote them... Facsimiles and comments by Shaun Usher add to the pleasure. A book to enjoy.
