Excellent equipment that produces the goods
Excellent device that works really well and produces good quality results. I have found no reduction in resolution, contrast or colour between the digital copy and the original. It is easy to use and the screen provides a good preview of what you are copying. I recommend it.

BETTER THAN PC OPTIONS
Easy set up, 4 minutes. Auto pauses through blank sections and restarts again. Realtime recording but clear picture, great sound. Best buy ever! Hours on 1 USB stick 3.0 and transfer to pc in less than 5 minutes. Put USB back in it, format to erase and your off again. My main issue was the age of the camcorder, all the more reason to transfter now before the camcorder dies or the tapes are corrupt. My video 8 and Mini DV tapes were 27 years old at least. It converted both and VHS. You need original equipment to transfer from .

Effective, simple to use unit
This unit is great for the fact you do not require a computer, you simply record to an SD card. It also has some useful features, such as auto stop recording (only if what you are transfering actually finishes and doesn't continue to something else you had recorded over) which means you don't have to keep checking on the transfer. My only gripes are - the selection of picture format - you can select 4:3 but not 16:9, the I my option for 16:9 is an auto detect, which it has got wrong a few times. Also, the sd card slot is very stiff. Other than that, great little unit - I have just finished successfully transfering 64 VHS cassettes.

Easy to use and not complicated.
I bought this to transfer NTSC VHS video tapes to MP4 format on a USB stick/drive. I found this item easy to understand and work with. The manual is clear and not complicated. You have to have the appropriate VHS or DVD player depending on what you are recording. Your VHS or DVD player must have the appropriate AV connections or S-Video connections to connect to this item. I tried to get a picture on the little screen for about an hour but could only get audio. Then I read the troubleshooting part of the manual and realised I hadn’t selected the right input. Once I did that everything was fine and I recorded 2 VHS tapes. Everything was so easy. But if you record content from say a VHS tape the recorded quality will not be HD quality because the recording depends on the quality of the original content. Having said that I was pleased with the outcome and can watch my recordings on my TV. I live in the UK and my TV is a PAL tv. My original content was NTSC (which my video player could play). I recommend this item.

Great kit for transferring Mini DV
I've had several devices over the years for transferring video and none of them particularly great to use, hence why I have mini DV cassettes which haven't been viewed in nearly twenty years. I wish I had this back in 2004, it's easy and convenient. yes I worried that it was pricy but honestly totalling up the cheaper variants that have only had limited success this unit is easily worth the money and is cheaper than the failed purchases. For my needs I simply have to play the cassette through the camcorder with an S-Video and a RCA cable connecting it to the ClearClick recorder (making sure not to use the yellow video connection as I do find this generates some visual interference in the light parts of the video). Then with the SD card inserted press record and then start the camcorder playing and stop when I'm done. The video files are immediately watchable on any computer. I love the simplicity of it and not having to rely on any software seals the deal.

Quality Disappointing
Very good user interface (easy to use) BUT, the recorded quality is NOT acceptable for this price - there is quite a bit of pixelation in the image and it is due to the high level of compression used. It is not necessary nowadays to compress video this much as storage space is cheap, or there could have been an option in the menu. I expected better for this price.

Great but drops connection although easy fix!
Great converter but I had a problem with the connection dropping and the unit re-booting sometimes only after 3 or 4 minutes. Obviously this stopped the recording process. Contacted the supplier and was sent a replacement unit which had the same fault. Turns out the plug and USB C cable are incompatible with each other. Use your own USB C supply with no problem. Use the supplied plug and your cable.. no problems. Use the supplied cable and your plug … no problem. So, easy solution to easily copy tapes but took several frustrating attempts to resolve.

Work seamlessly
I bought the clearclick converter as my son is a pro photographer and is often contacted to see if he can digitise old tapes anything from vhsc to hi8 etc. but it’s me who does the work so I treated myself to this wonderful piece of kit, after using other methods (plug in usb type) it gives a much better workflow and has no glitches as it records to an SD card or a Usb pen, the former I would recommend and you still need some form of video editing software to complete a good job, but as a videographer myself I already use one. The unit is well made, comes with all the connecting wiring and power adapter, you can even view your progress on a tv via the HDMI output on the device whilst recording. Ok it’s definitely not HD and is not meant for that application but for digitisation of old formats from bygone devices it makes life easygoing my recommendation for recording old VHS is to try an use a VHS player with An S video outlet as this produces slightly better quality than an AV outlet.

I can't believe how amazing this product is. So easy to use and converts all my old miniDV tapes to digital mp4 format. If I could give this 10 stars I would! I highly recommend this product
