This is the book I have been waiting for. It serves as a great introduction to new phonics rules and great for practice to reinforce what was already learned. My son is starting 2nd grade. This is perfect for him. The book has unit reviews and an answer key. There are no colorful pages (which I prefer) and there is an array of activities to learn the concepts. I hope the pictures help others make a decision.

These are probably my favorite workbooks I have found so far. The books build on itself slowly, giving plenty of time to practice. The language curriculum in my county was sorely lacking, and this phonics books really helped my 1st and 2nd graders.

I bought this to use in the middle school setting for my new student from India who doesn't speak English. It is the perfect tool with many pictures and the use of phonics to help a non-English speaker learn the basics. He even uses this with his older sister that is in high school.

Excellent phonics program.

I bought this for my 6-yr-old son, who is bi-lingual (but stronger in Spanish, as we live in Spain). The methodology is excellent for teaching children that rhyming words don't always look alike.I also use it for teaching English, even with adult beginners.
