Smart 48 Amp Level 2 EV Charger with Home Energy Management System, Smart Home Energy Monitor with 16 Circuit Level Sensors

After doing a lot of detailed research I ordered and installed the Emporia EV Charger and Vue 3 Energy Monitoring/Management system bundle through Amazon. There are lots of options for this type of equipment. My decision was based on multiple factors, including design, specifications, features, reviews and cost as well as many others. But what made my decision clear in the end was the amazing customer support offered by Emporia. I had multiple questions on the candidate EV Chargers and Energy Monitors and reached out to my top candidates for answers. Emporia answered all my questions immediately and comprehensively. The knowledge depth and excellence of the support help is in a league of its own. I had follow-up questions about installation and App set-up in which the customer support experience has been outstanding every time. This has made installing and using the products easy and provides a great level of confidence. Regarding the products themselves, I have been extremely happy with their quality, design, features and performance and can see why they have the best reviews. The Vue 3 energy monitor has been especially great, enabling me to clearly see where all my electricity has been going and helping me reduce cost by addressing multiple areas that were consuming power without benefit. An especially useful feature is that the Vue 3 monitor enables me to see my solar generation as well as loads and plan my usage, including EV charging, to optimize. The Emporia smart phone App is incredibly powerful, but very intuitive and easy to use. The software engineers at Emporia are obviously top notch. I also love the ability to view the same data on my laptop using the Emporia Web App. Emporia Energy is a really great company, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great EV Charger and/or other Energy equipment.

I hurredly installed the EV charger and the Emporia Vue then went on vaction. I had difficulty communicating with Vue so I contacted support. Emporia provided excellent support and upon returning home I was able to rectify my installation problems.I'm inpressed with the hardware and especially Emporia support

I ordered the EV charger with smart home energy monitor kit. I received the smart home energy kit but not the EV charger. What's the point of having the smart home kit without an EV charger? Packing three boxes shouldn't be this difficult. Geez...UPDATE: Spoke directly with the guys from Emporia and they made the situation right in a timely manner.

I spent a bunch of money getting this installed only to later discover that the smart functions do not work with Mercedes. Also the Vue main clamps don’t fit on my panel and they’re asking for an additional $60 to replace them with a different type of clamp. For something that is touted as one of the best smart chargers for the money, I’ve been utterly disappointed. If I could return it I would, but it’s hard wired now.

Love that you can adjust the power charge and monitor via app. I installed the energy monitoring device which has also been neat. Service helped me promptly on something as well. Happy with purchase!

Power outage blew it up: How is it possible that we paid so much money for this charger, and when we get a power outage in the area, it blows it up?!Has no protection?

Software (I use the Android app) has a bit of a learning curve, but it's versatile enough for any car that charges via J1772 connector.Up to 40A using its plug, or you can remove the plug and wire it directly for 48A charging.My car only takes up to 32A so I have room for future vehicles that can charge at higher rates. Setup is via Bluetooth and WiFi, plus a device PIN that you set up. And if your available outlet has a lower rating (say 30A), you can dial the app down so it charges at a lower rate to accommodate that.The charger can be moved to other WiFi networks using Bluetooth and the PIN. Nice.
