I have two cats that are diabetic and these strips saved one of their lives. He was acting funny. Checked his glucose and it was 34. Gave food and sugar and kept checking, I still took my little guy in to the hospital but I have never had a problem using these. Never got an error code on a new strip. Make sure your hands are completely dry and when you use the strip to get enough blood on it before it times out or you will have to use a new one. These may be pricey compared to other ones, but seriously...diabetes is a serious condition so why chance it. Review: Pricey but worth it! - For the most part they are easy to use but at times will have some that read Error. My only complaint is the price. I probably buy 3 boxes a month so it’s pretty pricey. It’s one of those I got to have it so what do you do things! I’m thankful for the product though, a human monitor is not accurate at all trust me I tried. I can’t put a price on my girl so I will pay what I have to for the rest of the time I have her.

Expensive but worth it
Our cat has been diabetic for 4 years now and these are the only strips that we will use. They are expensive but require less blood than human meters (which are JUST as accurate). In the 4 years of using these we have only had one package come defective and when we called Zoetis they replaced the strips for free. Definitely recommend.

Works with AlphaTrak 2
These are the only strips I use in my AlphaTrak 2. You’ll see some posters say they use Freestyle strips with it, or that use human meters altogether for their pets. However, I learned the hard way that human meters ARE NOT ACCURATE for pets. They just aren’t. Once your pets blood glucose levels go above 200ish, the accuracy drastically goes down. My poor cat ended up in DKA because I tried using a human meter. Don’t do that to your pet. Just pay the money for the proper product to properly monitor your pet’s condition. Saving some money isn’t worth your pet’s health or life. A diabetic pet is expensive for sure, and my cat has lived five years with diabetes and had a few health scares during that time. But that’s the commitment you make when you take on a pet.

My dog thanks you!
I love that i can order this as often as needed to monitor my pup's diabetes. She recently had a crash and was hospitalized after two yrs of insulin and diabetic care. These strips help see where she is at currently and with her vets watchful eye we were able to switch her insulin needs and get her back on track. My only dislike is each new bottle of strips the code may be different and wish it stayed the same. This is a small inconvenience to me but not one i cant overlook. I just change the code on her meter and go about my day. I am equally happy ive never ran into an out of stock issue. Thank You for your company supplying my pup to live a better happier life.

Numbers are very different from the AlphaTrak 2
Edit: this review was supposed to be for the alphatrak 3 instead of the 2. I've had no problems with these strips. Too bad they are going to be discontinued. I use this meter for checking blood sugars on my ferrets for insulinoma which they will eventually get as they get older. I have been comparing the readings with the alphatrak 2. Same blood sample and the number difference has been all over the place. When I called the company they informed me that they have not done a lot of research with this meter for ferrets. This surprised me because this is the only meter the vets/owners/ferret shelters use. I have monitored blood sugar in ferrets for years with the previous two meters and have had minimal issues. I have bought hundreds of strips over the years. Shelters save money doing testing themselves. The previous meter (2) was supposed to be on the dog setting for accurate readings. This meter (3) I was told to use the cat? I have used both for comparison and neither have been within 20 points to my old meter. Sometimes there's a 50 point difference. This can mean life or death to the little ones and how much meds they need to be on. Unfortunately the AlphaTrak 2 strips are being or have been discontinued. Fortunately I did order a couple extra bottles of strips (with the price jacked up) to have but these will only last for so long. I will keep on comparing until I run out. Hopefully the company will do more research on this new meter with ferrets. Their little lives depend on it.

Too expensive but works
Too costly but the manufacturer has held us hostage that there’s few other choices. The individual price for each piece in the container is expensive and a little more than a dollar a piece. If you do an all day glucose curve it’ll end up costing you nearly $15 plus the stress of pricking your pet every two hours. I hope they would charge a lot less for this. Can you tell I’m unhappy at the cost? Yep!

Great test strips- specific to Cats... i understand dogs can use, but we only have kitties
The test strips are quick, easy to use and require very little blood for the test to have solid results. i am thankful my doctor suggested this brand and testing device since they are consistently on target based on blood glucose reading and require insulin to keep my kitty healthy. So far, she never experiences a low -- keep on top of the diabetes, testing will improve the life of your pet! best rebecca
