Works as advertised, Some myths debunked
Hi, I have ordered these from Amazon before and have been happy with my purchases. I spoke with technical support due to some comments in the reviews and here are my comments:1. The product is D250A as amazon states...A filters more (MTBE, VOCs and so on). Bottom line for me, pick 250A2. The product Amazon ships is labeled Culligan and is D250A, no bait and switch here since I have been ordering these3. There are two parts to this filter, together they are not NSF certified but one of them is, if this was to be purchased separately, it would be labeled D40A. I forget which one of these two support indicated was certified. This makes sense to me. Bottom line, it filters what I want, certification or not and in this case, it's a legality that because filters are bundled together, they are together not NSF certified.4. May I suggest, buy with confidence! Hope this helps people on the fence that are all worried that they are not getting a product they are paying for.Update, 4/14/2013:My confidence is wavering. I am more convinced that something has changed in these filters now that I have spent more time researching it. I don't think it's Amazon's fault. As one of the other reviewers reported the packaging has changed to a point that I personally have now noticed these filters don't perform as well as they did when I first bought this filtration system. I have been looking to replace my unit anyway because my unit housing is over 10 years old and somewhere I read that the housing should be replaced after 10 years (probably because it's plastic and that's its lifespan). I might take the approach of trying out buying these filters separately (d40) as other review pointed out and see if it makes a difference but I am surprised that Culligan doesn't make a replacement model anymore.

Always Culligan... (D-250A Filter Set for SY-2300 Dual Filter)
I've been using these Culligan D-250A filters for well over 15 years and they have never disappointed me. Crystal clear water flows rather quickly from my sink top dispenser right up to the point when the filters need to be replaced. Sometimes it's hard to tell when that time comes so I try to change them every 6 months as recommended. But if you notice that the flow has slowed down a bit, then you've probably reached the 500 gallon limit before the 6 month period has ended. I'd say that the overall cost is well worth not having to drag cases and cases of bottled water into the house every week. Plus I'm not polluting our planet with useless blobs of plastic.

Works in an American Plumber WLCS-1000 filter
Appears to be exactly the same as the Pentek Pentair P-250A filter (now discontinued?), which was a replacement for the discontinued American Plumber W-250 filter.Docking a star because of the price, ~$10 more than the P-250A. This filter is so similar to the P-250A, I'm guessing it's the identical filter made in the same factory ...

Nothing has changed on this filter, despite the negative reviews.
After reading several negative reviews, I called Culligan and spoke to a technician. He said that the product has been the exact same for the last 12 years. The only thing that changed was that the mold for the grey cartridge wore out (it had been made in Mexico, which is technically "America", according to NAFTA) so they switched to a Chinese case. That is the only part that is made in China. It still meets all of the same standards, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get the case certified, which is why it is no longer certified. But the bottom line is that the only difference between the old version and the new version is that the grey case is now from China instead of Mexico. The water tastes the exact same to me as it always has, and I have been using this filter system for the last six years.

Excellent performance for a reasonable price
I purchased the system these filters fit several years ago. The two stage process produces a clean, chlorine free and parasite filtered (if they exist in the water supply) water. The flow rate is low, so you can't use this for constant high volume fast needs, but is perfect for beverages and cooking with lower volumes. My unit has a flow meter with an alarm that beeps when the filters have filtered the optimum number of gallons, so that I know it is time to change themIt is important to sterilize the filter housing and system as per the directions before installing the new filters.

Great Filters, At A Great Price!
Despite a lot of unfounded complaints from "Professional Reviewers or Chronic Complainers" we found nothing wrong with these filters what-so-ever. They performed exactly as promised, and the water taste great. The price is a lot better than buying it at Lowes too, and I don't have to make a special trip for it when Amazon delivers to my Front Door! Great for Tea & Coffee, and your other cooking needs. No complaint here, would buy again!

Don't pad GE's pocket, buy these for FXSVC replacements
I had a fit when I saw the asking price for the GE filters went up. $10+ in the past 6.months. So.I kept looking and found these for nearly half GE's price here on Amazon. I have had this filter system for over 10 years and the ones Culligan makes now is what GE used to, which in my opinion , are better filters. Both GE filters now are the open mesh type and Culligan's second filter is solid like GE used to produce. Another plus for Culligan is their instructions. They include a step that cleans out the delivery line and faucet which GE never bothered to recommend. The LA water harbors slime when it is stationary unlike water I was used to in Houston. I am going to assume these filters will last the full 6 months like GE did except for the previous ones I just replaced with Culligan. Now I can say the old jingle "Hey Culligan man"
