Bored No More: Quizzes and activities to bust boredom in a snap! Spiral-bound – September 4, 2012

What's completely lacking here at Amazon.com is a DESCRIPTION of this book or - better yet! - sample pages to actually look at. Reviews all speak glowingly of the value of this book, but after reading scores of them, I had NO CLUE what the book was all about! I even googled it, and found no sample pages or any clue as to what kind of "quiz book" this is. So I'm going to spoil it all for prospective shoppers and tell them.This is not really a "quiz" book in that it doesn't ask questions like "How many planets are in Earth's solar system?" Or "How many words can you spell using the letters in 'Halloween'?" Instead, each "quiz" describes an event, like: "You're riding in a car today. How many people are with you? Where are you going? What is everyone wearing?" etc., with multiple choice "answers" to select.On the following page, you are prompted, "If you picked a lot of "A's" then do thus-and-so activity" "If you picked mostly B's then do this and that activity..." etc., So the book is really a prompt and suggested crafts or activities for the child to do. Again, that is not a "quiz" in the true sense of the word. So if sample pages are NOT going to be included, then the book should be called an "Activity Book" in my opinion.I was planning on giving this to a bright, active 9-yr-old girl whose family I'll be staying with in New Delhi. Given how advanced their education system is, I'm not sure she is going to feel adequately challenged by this book. The page design and illustrations are very colorful and engaging, but ultimately WHAT the book is and IF it will be used are yet to be determined.Not sure why NO pages are shared here to better help potential customers make a more informed purchase decision. I may end up donating this book to our local library, cuz it doesn't really fit the cultural lifestyle of this little girl in New Delhi.

Not sure if my 8 year old niece will be able to read this, it seems more for a preteen 10-12... But I would have liked it if I was able to read to read it at 8. I just foresee her coming in every 3 or 4 minutes asking what a word is or for an adult to read this or that... I think it's a great book for older kids, or advanced younger readers. But I'm not knocking it, it seems fun, just want to let you know it's a bit more challenging than my 8 year old niece can handle alone, oh well we'll do it together!!

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter. She immediately decided that she didn't like it and put it aside. A couple of days after that, she was bored and I told her to sit down and just read through the book. So, reluctantly she did. After 2 hours of her being away in her room, she came down and said that she loved the book! She said that there were so many fun ideas in it and she felt bad for originally pushing it aside. So, my suggestion would be to be patient. Children seem to be unimpressed if there's not immediate gratification (as in video games), but if they will give this book a chance, they'll find that it's terrific and full of really fun ideas!

I expected more to give ideas not to be board, but my niece just sat down on Christmas day and went through the whole book. Not quite what I expected to be done, but it was ok. I am usually pleased with American Girl, I think it was a mixture of problem with the book and with my niece, wished that she wouldn't just go through the book all at once, but overall I would still buy the book again.

It is a great book something fun to do and read full of quizzes,crafts,food, and more!!!!!:) The reason why I gave it a 4star is because the book is only like 94 pages long but still fun to read and you will wanna read it again and agian!!!!!!!:) Thanks amazon !!!

We bought this book for our 8 year old daughter because she loves the quizzes from the magazines. This was a big hit! She keeps it next to her bed at night and takes a couple of the quizzes at bedtime as way to wind down. In the morning she gives the quizzes to her dad and me to see how we all compare. The Bored no More title came true for her and it inspired her to create her own quizzes as well!

Great quality as always with American girl items. Lots of fun ideas and questions for young girls. I bought this as part of a Christmas gift for an 8 year old and it is a hit for both the girl and care taker.

This was a gift for my daughter's birthday and when she opened it, she immediately started thumbing through it. She even made a craft project from one of the ideas in it within the first week. This will absolutely keep my daughter from uttering those dreaded words, "Mom, I'm bored!" no more. Thank you American Girl!!

Super generic. You can find way better quizzes for free to do with kids online. Boring.

The binding looked really worn, which was too bad because I was giving this book as a gift. I got this for a 7 and a half year old who is in love with all thing American Girl and she LOVED it! :)
