Easy Classical Guitar Duets: Book/Online Audio

Great for teaching beginners
This is a valuable supplement to Books 1 and 2 of Duncan's excellent Hal Leonard method. It's also good enough to stand on its own as an enjoyable collection of high-quality easy to intermediate duets suitable for performance as well as teaching.

Very used friendly
The audio tracts and the ability to adjust the tempo of each piece is very helpful to learn the pieces. I very much enjoy learning from this book

Beautiful Songs
A wonderful book for beginners to play along with a teacher. Or for two beginners. Includes Level 1-3 songs for a nice challenge when you want it or you can keep it easy if you want, too. The songs are beautiful and simple and sophisticated.

Easy Classical Guitar Duets: Book/CD Pack
I like this collection of duets, especially the last (and most difficult one), "Pavane, Op.50" by Gabriel Faure. Incredibly beautiful. I have played it many times (even with Charles Duncan himself). However, I don't let the fact that I know him personally and have played many duets with him over the years influence my opinion of his books. As a matter of fact, I have dissed a couple of them. The duets progress from very, very easy (great for newbie guitarists) to higher levels of difficulty. Each piece is also broken down by parts (1st guitar and 2nd guitar parts) by level of difficulty. I teach classical guitar and use these duets frequently to teach my students how to play with another guitarist. The pieces in the book are all very good pieces written by famous composers (Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Dowland, etc...) but of course they have been greatly simplified for inexperienced guitarists, but are still very lovely to listen too.The CD that comes with it is very helpful to play along with so that the guitar student can practice either part with the recording and get a good feel for his/her part. I haven't tried using my PC to play the CD yet so I don't know about that problem mentioned in the previous review, I've just played it in my boom box and it sounds great.Just remember that it is a book of EASY duets. If you are wanting some intermediate or advanced scores, this book won't have them. I recommend this book to beginning guitarists. The notation is clear, NO TAB (yeah!) and helpful fingerings are given.

Excellent publication providing many opportunities
This book contains many classical guitar duets arranged by order of difficulty from beginner to intermediate. None of the pieces are really very hard to play and that is where the real benefit is. These pieces are nicely arranged, properly fingered, easily read and are nicely musical as opposed to many simple arrangements which just don't sound good and become boring to play. I highly recommend this book because it affords opportunities for parents and children, siblings, family members, friends, students and teachers, to play together and enjoy the unique exhileration and fellowship that arrises from making music together. I suggest buying two copies to that each player can more easily read his or her part.

Highly Recommended
I love how the pieces are well arranged for easy to intermediate duets depending on what your skill is. As a classical guitarist, I find this book enjoyable and love that you're able to change the bpm as well as balance out the audio so that you're able to play along with the other guitar part and vice versa.

Love that I can change the BPM till I'm ready to play it at 100% speed. Also being able to have only one part playing while I play the other or I can have both playing. I use a speaker to increase the volume. This book is great fun!

good range of duets!
I bought this partly because my teacher suggested it - but also on reading a quite negative review referring to the lower ability of participants . . . ! It was great for me to able to sightread many of the duets, allowing us to give an unexpected 'performance' at a coffee morning!! So . . . . . if you feel you are a lowly and struggling classical guitar learner . . . . play on and feel encouraged!

Lovely book for two instruments. My wife and I are using the tunes for duets with mandolin and guitar. Simple tunes, but very effective when played as duets.

Excellent book especially for improving sight reading.
Great book. Standard not to high for someone starting to play duets.

Easy guitar duets
The book and CD are absolutely fine but the duets are easier than I thought they would be. I was hoping the standard would be more for "intermediate" players, despite the name!
