I have used the SRA flux pen for a long time, now I have another if my old one wears out. Great. Thanks.The tub of hard rosin flux paste is perfect. Yes, of course it is smoky - it is Rosin. Use it with a tabletop fan blowing away from you. If the flux is too hard for your purpose, simply scoop out a little bit and warm it up. It liquifies quickly, and stays soft enough to dunk stranded wire into for ten minutes or so. (I need a metal bottle cap to use as a tiny bowl for flux.) Thanks SRA. Good stuff.

The pen arrived too dried out to be useful. Too bad, it would’ve been good to have.The paste in the tub is a little thick as-is to be used for smd work, but warming it up with a hot air station can make it handle better.The paste is easy to clean off the board with isopropyl alcohol and a distilled water rinse.Besides cleaning the solder pads during soldering rosin paste helps to wick the solder to where you put the rosin.When prototyping you don’t usually have a solder mask to lay down an even later of solder paste. With this rosin I can spread it on the pads and put a small ball of solder paste in the centre of the pad, then press on the device to squish out the solder paste a bit and heat.The solder flows over the whole pad and helps to align the device under the surface tension of the molten solder. Without the rosin you may not wet the full surface of the pad and your device could be soldered askew, substantially annoying those with adhd…

The Flux pen is completely dry. It appears to have been manufactured in 2001? Lot # 1308-01. And the Expiration date is marked 11-04-2. So if it expired in 2011 (10 years after it was produced) WHY ARE THEY SELLING IT?It is suppose to be refillable. But there are no instructions as to how to go about this.I would like a partial refund for this item, but AMAZON does not allow me to contact the seller regarding a problem (as usually happens). My choice is either to return the entire order (both items) or leave the information on this review. I hope someone from SRA reads this and improves their quality control!The SRA Rosin Paste Flux is fine and works well.
