I was happy to be able to find the Moo carve block in the 3/4 inch thickness. It's perfect for cutting up and carving small stamps and there's no need to mount your finished stamp on a wood block, as it's thick enough to hold in your hand and stamp on your desired surface. For stamp carving, this is the best product: easy to carve, doesn't flake off, doesn't break easily.

I'm happy with this purchase, both the firmness and the texture of this material make it great for carving stamps.

But it's the next best thing. Because Mastercarve has been discontinued I decided to try this material instead. It has been the thickest carving "rubber" material so far, which is what I wanted. However,the material rubs off easily. So detailed carvings have to be treated with a delicate touch on clean up or you'll rub off your hard work.So, if you're doing chunky mixed media type stamps with this material you'll be ok. If you are doing delicate or intricate stamps, you might want to consider a different material.

I have long loved the work of Sigrid Olsen - first when she was a fashion designer and, later, when she focused on prints and ceramics. I saw her demonstrate her technique, using very simple designs carved from these carving blocks and Speedball printing ink. She said she'd tried every possible carving surface over the years and found this best. My own experience confirms it is far easier to work with than linoleum blocks, Speedball blocks or white erasers. Great product and much better price here than at art stores.

Opened my block today and the entire block has ridges in it from the shrink wrap being wrinkled so essentially it's useless for making impressions. I'd like to order another block but am leery of the same problem with future blocks. The shrink wrap should be smoothe so as to not leave dents all over the entire block.

I really like the thickness of this carving block - much easier to hold and stamp than the thin pink carving blocks. No need to mount it, easy to use, as is. It carves very smoothly, though it is just a tiny bit crumbly, my only complaint.
