Plant saver
I have a confession... I'm a serial plant killer!Since buying this string, my tomato plant has been spared a painful death and is happily drinking water as needed. It's also really handy for going away and keeping your plants watered. Very useful and plenty of string for the money

Worked well
Surprisingly work well. Went away got 3 weeks and plants were fine when I came back.

need to practice more with this one but does work
I tried three different watering methods for a 2-week holiday away. This one definitely works but the size and height of the reservoir of water and the nature of the plant pot need a lot of practice. It sucks up the water more quickly than other methods. I think works better for a shorter trip. Will use it though with plants that are difficult to water normally as it did seem to suit some of them very well.

Excellent Quality & Price
Update 8 Apr 2024 - This capillary rope is too efficient :) I have had to remove some of the lengths from my sub-irrigating trays because the rope is delivering too much water to the matting and plants.I thought I would try this capillary rope after the one I bought previously shot up in price to over £13 for 20m. I am glad I did, not only is this considerably cheaper, it is also thicker.I use this rope to make sub-irrigating pots and trays. Making them is very easy (see my photos) and works out a lot cheaper than buying the 'contraptions' I see being sold. Sub-irrigation is also better for the plants and reduces water usage.A simple alternative for pots is to put lengths of the rope through the holes in the bottom (or a bunch of lengths through the centre hole) and stand the pot on feet in a saucer of water. Just make sure you fill the pot with compost and/or coir (so it is in contact with the rope inside the bottom of the pot) and do not put gravel or broken pot in the bottom, which only serves to raise the water table in a pot anyway.

Very tricky to use well
I ordered the 30mm and the 50mm, and tried them out before going away. I'm glad I did because both of them just transferred the entire contents of the container into the plant tray until it overflowed and went on the floor. They are too effective and transfer the water too quickly. I can't see how they could ever work since they just transfer all the water quickly (too much), and then afterwards the plants will not have any water.I did try to use them anyway when I went on holiday for 8 days. When I returned the plants were dead, because presumably all the water was transferred in about 12 hours, overflowed, and then evaporated.
