Horses & Homes Hardcover – September 1, 2009

As a longtime horse owner/lover who is intensely interested in home decor, I was hoping this book would showcase some of the amazing and beautiful ways that horses are integrated into decor. I have seen many examples of this over the years, but unfortunately I did not see what I was hoping for in this book.It almost looks like a close group of friends or acquaintances collaborated to showcase their beautiful homes (and horses) with some general information about their discipline or breed of choice included. I was NOT looking for breed or riding discipline information in this book - but I wouldn't have minded if the decor had been awesome!In some cases the "horse" element in each photo looks as if it were added specifically FOR that photo. All of the homes were lovely, but nowhere near some of the "horsey" homes I have seen/read about in the past! No, I'm not referring to people owning large collections of horse "stuff" either - I have seen homes where horses are the dominant factor in decor, yet the rooms are beautiful, tasteful, even subtle in some cases!I'm going to try the other horse decor book, perhaps it will be the one I was hoping for! Just my opinion, thanks!

I love this book! The photos of horses and their people are beautiful, and it was fascinating to see how horse lovers have decorated their homes with artwork, collectibles, books, etc. The text is well done and I enjoyed the lovely quotes scattered throughout.Jenifer is such a talented photographer, and her love of all things equine makes this book special. I especially enjoyed the sections on Children and Horses, and Antiques, and was delighted to see exquisite Saddlebreds highlighted. This is a book I'll look at time after time.

I love decorating with horse items so the pics in this book were nice

Say this at a horse museum and fell in love with it but didn't want to carry on my travels. Was surprised to find it here at a great price.

I was looking for information to help our home have a more western look. The book did not give any ideas on where to find things to decorate with. Some of the pictures were helpful, but not what I was looking for. The pictures were good, and I enjoyed looking at them. This not a book to use as a guide for your home, it is like a magaizine you glance at and put down.

While I liked the book in general that's what it was "general". I Thought it would be more specific.

The book is fabulous and it arrived in record time. I recommend it to any and all who love horses!
