works for me and a great value
I searched all around for one of these and couldn't decide on which one I wanted. Glad I got this one after seeing a lot of other nightmare reviews. I also bought a cheap press off amazon to remove the old dovetail and install this one with a micrometer. Worked flawlessly and adapted the unit I wanted. Would do again and prefer to milling for similar price.

UPDATED: The metal used to hold the adapter in place of the rear sight is not a high enough grade of steel
I like the quality feel of the product overall however my Wheeler sight tool easily crushed the metal of the part securing the adapter to where the original site was, while I was trying to install it. Now its useless. The Wheeler tool had difficulty removing the original steel sight because it was tight from the manufacturer, so I'm not surprised that the softer metal was ruined. The weapon is a Springfield XD(S) 3.3. I am now out the price of the adapter and have to figure out how to get the mashed metal out of my rear sight. I hope it works for some of you, where the tolerances are a little more forgiving. Now I'm facing a Foredom self-extraction or paying a gunsmith to get me back to square one. I'm giving the adapter 3 stars because it might work for some of you, if it slides in easier. Good luck! BTW - I expect a lot of rant about not using a professional gunsmith in the first place, but this is not my first sight replacement and I used proper tools and techniques.UPDATE: This review was answered by OuterImpact and another dovetail was immediately provided along with instructions and videos on how to sand down the dovetail until it slides in easier. After quite a bit of sanding with 400 grit sandpaper, I was able to achieve a snug pressed-like fit that I was comfortable with. I have no other issues and I am very pleased with the response from OuterImpact, so I have raised this review from 3 to 5 stars. I have also added some pictures.

So Simple, so solid! I think I need another...
Okay this thing is amazing. Really an amazingly engineered piece of hardware. It fits like its a factory option!Milling a Slide runs $200 - $500 with installation of a plate for Red Dots. Yeah. The hardest part of this whole installation was removing the Springfield rear sight. Full confession, I let the Gun Tech at Gander remove mine. It was pretty tight.Watch the installation video's, even the one for sanding for fitting the base slide. Piece of cake to put together the whole thing, with an absolutely fabulous ending. Used a Vortex Viper 6 MOA, screwed right on using the included guide pins, and really nice to get the torque settings before you strip the screws. Don't forget the Loctite for the screws, they only tell you about 5 times. Thanks by the way.The bad thing, I probably will buy a couple of more. This plate is well built, and this price is literally a steal! Buy it, install it, and start knocking down steel plates!

Works great .
I installed this on my Springfield XDM 10mm and put a vortex red dot on it . Seems pretty secure and sturdy enough. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet butI decided to put my bore sighter in it to get it close and on paper. it's so far off I can't adjust my red dot anymore . Windage is about perfect but elevation is way to high . I was really hoping it would work out .******EDITED******I finally figured out my problem and it works great held up to 50 rounds of 10mm so far !! Held zero the whole time !

works for xds 45
I gave it a four , if you havent done any sight removal before this is just the adapter piece with the fasteners, that is why it lost a star, you have to improvise getting the correct fittings to screw and tighten them if you dont have an arsenal of tool at your disposal. The dovetail can bend easily becarful when putting it in, you will need a sight tool for the model xdsii do not suggest hammering it in, other than that, it worked really well for my xds 45 there is no instructions so if youre new do some research on how the assembly of this product works. there are multiple slots for various different sights. be safe if you dont kno what you are doing just take it to a gunsmith they would know what to do with just this package

Adapter mount failed while shooting at the range.
Very disappointed in the quality of this product. Both screws failed, and the optics separated from the gun while firing on the range. Note always wear safety glasses. Screws were properly torqued and I used blue Loctite. It Appears that the threads on one side of the base failed and sheared as the screws, and the optics separated from the gun.

Mounting solution
I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised with this mounting plate! It is working great and my optic is still solidly mounted after a couple shooting trips and daily carry/use for a while. I had been a little worried how well it stay put, but seems there was no need to worry. Mounted great to my XD.

Very Well Built - Wish the logo was smaller
Great mount. Since 9mm ammo is $39 a 200 round box, I've been going to the range a lot. It took me about 400 rounds to familiarize myself with the Burris Fastfire III. Since becoming proficient with my optic, I have to thank Outerimpact for helping hold that "zero". I've put 1500 rounds through my XD9 Tactical and I am still making 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards on a bad day. This mount is very sturdy... I just wish the logo were smaller as it really pops on a black gun.
