Solid, Near-Perfect Fix for Aluminum Macbooks and PCs Lacking Ample USB Ports
A major problem with newer, more portable computers is a lack of USB ports. The Sabrent USB 4-port expander has thus far proven a solid fix. I've mostly owned PCs over the past decade, but I bought a first-gen Retina Macbook Pro (15-inch) in mid-2012 for its portability appeal. The big problem? The device only had two USB 3.0 ports. I mostly run in Boot Camp, and I only have 128 GB of total space, so I typically plug in a compact form factor USB. I also as a rule always use a wireless mouse. So there goes my ports. When surveying port expanders, my criteria were: + Small/Compact + Ability to wrap backwards (so as not to interfere with the wireless mouse's domain) + Silver color The Sabrent Premium 4 Port was basically the only expander I found that fit those criteria to my satisfaction, so I dove in. I was a bit skeptical at the "Premium" claim, given that I got the 4-port expander for only $9.99 (MSRP: $20). However, upon receiving the device I can attest that it indeed has a premium feel both in construction and in the aluminum encasing. At this price, it's a pretty good deal given its merits which I will detail below. First and foremost, the device succeeds in the utility category. I'm quite pleased with it accomplishing its intended purpose -- giving me USB ports. The product indeed allows me to plug in additional printers -- more compact USB storage, printers, etc. Second the thing looks pretty snazzy. The body wrapped in a nice aluminum skin. The hue is a bit more blueish than the Macbook Pro aluminum (which tends to be a bit yellow). Still for anyone with an aluminum PC or Mac laptop, this should blend in pretty nicely. The assembly was a bit smaller than I expected -- but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I would say that one minor negative is that this means that the ports are spaced somewhat closely together. So if you have some more than one "fat" USB dongle don't be surprised if you can't fully load up all four ports. For most that won't be a problem, though -- I have three ports full (see pictures) and had no issues. The side that plugs in the computer and pivots is very solid and feels well built. The adapter plugs very solidly into the computer and didn't have any wiggle even when I moved my machine around. That is honestly one of the best things about the adapter. The only minor complaint I would say (aside from the port spacing) is that the peripheral is basically a big lever, so if you just jab a USB plug into it may rock/jiggle the assembly. When this first happened to me it didn't appear that the PC side moved (good), but the rest of the assembly torqued a bit (troubling). The simple solution, though is to either plug in more gingerly or to put a finger on the backside (where the lettering is) to balance the force you exert when you plug in. This can be done particularly easily if you rotate the adapter into its upright configuration. One question some may have is whether this effects file transfer speeds vs a raw port. I'll admit I don't have the full answer, but I would say if it does, the impact is minimal. Overall the speed seemed pretty good on the one USB drive I plugged in. I've been doing a fair number of file transfers today and didn't run into any slowness, although I didn't do any formal benchmarking on the drive performance versus the raw port. If my review is rather enthusiastic it's because I'm legitimately quite pleased with this peripheral, which appears the perfect almost seamless appendage to my port-lacking laptop. For that reason I'm happy to give it five stars and recommend it to other computer owners who are in a similar situation. SABRENT 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub [90°/180° Degree Rotatable] (HB-UMN4) - Review
The SABRENT 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub is a compact and convenient solution for expanding your USB connectivity. Its standout feature is the 90°/180° rotatable design, making it easy to adjust the hub’s position for better access and space management. This is especially useful for tight or awkward spaces around your desk or laptop. In terms of performance, it does what it promises—providing four additional USB 2.0 ports for connecting devices like mice, keyboards, flash drives, and more. However, because it's USB 2.0, the data transfer speeds are slower compared to USB 3.0 or 3.1 hubs, but it's still perfectly adequate for basic peripherals. The build quality is decent, and the hub is small and lightweight, making it portable and easy to carry around. For users needing a simple, reliable hub for everyday tasks, this is a good budget option. However, if you're looking for faster file transfers, you might want to consider a USB 3.0 version. Pros: Rotatable design for flexible positioning Compact and portable Affordable price Cons: USB 2.0 speeds are slower compared to newer standards Overall, the SABRENT 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub is a solid, no-frills choice for those needing extra USB ports without breaking the bank.

Simple and easy more USB 2 for laptop, recommended.
simple, easy I just plugged Sabrent Premium 4 Port Aluminum Mini USB 2.0 Rotatable Hub [90°/180° Degree Rotatable] (HB-UMMC) into my USB 2 port on my laptop. Added a few things which I wanted to connect to my laptop, but I did not have USB ports open. The fact that it rotates is nice as I may hit it a few times while using the pc as I am not accustomed to it yet. Now that it is in and my mouse and my phone are connected to it, Windows 10 tells me things are trying to connect, but my phone doesn't stop charging and the mouse works fine. I see other reviewers say this will get loose, so maybe it is not just me..... I am so excited as I have ports to set up my headphones now! I recommend this. Update - July 5, 2017 This is frustrating as I can have my laptop on a flat surface and not touching either the laptop, the port, nor is anything attached to the port, and it connects and disconnects. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it is so annoying! It kept dropping my wireless mouse, and while it was charging my S5 it would not connect to it to transfer files. Then, BOOM! Just fine for a while. I dropped a star for that. I play World of Warcraft and just can't have beeps of connections going on and mouse being unresponsive. Update July 6 I realized I plugged this into a USB3 port not a USB2, so I changed it to the correct and WOW! No disconnections, no problems whatsoever! I put my review back to 4 stars and say to you to check to make certain you are using the correct USB connections on the PC ... my bad.

REALLY COOL TOY AND AT A GREAT PRICE!!
Sabrent makes some really quality stuff and I don't recall ever being disappointed with their products. I used this to expand my four port hub (search Amazon for a Sabrent B00JX1ZS5O) to a seven port. Note, I needed three UFD's (but only one at a time) in the first three ports of the four port hub (above) and plugged this device into the fourth port. Then I plugged HID's into this (keyboard, mouse, bar code scanner - all corded) to avoid pulling too much power. It worked like a charm. This is being used in a computer assembly shop on the burn-in bench for Linux builds so I can have access to ALL six devices with from one cord. After initially posting my review, I noticed others were not pleased with this. An oft repeated complaint seemed to be it got hot, the laptop got hot, etc. Folks, USB devices are usually POWERED through the USB port. Kind of like plugging too many appliances into a single electrical outlet, it is very possible to pull too much current from a single USB port. If you overdo it, things get "dicey" and can result in erratic performance and overheating. One of the reasons I gave a detailed description of my configuration.

Compact & Unobtrusive, Works Great on Laptops, HTPCs, TV Boxes, and more
I have bought several of these, and we use them on our laptops, Home Theater PC/TV Boxes, and more. They're great for any device that you wish had more USB ports. I like that you can swivel the ports to any position. I also really like that this USB hub is unobtrusive, since it sits right up against your device's USB port that it is plugged into, and it doesn't take up any "desk" space. I especially did not want to have yet another box-type device sitting on top of my entertainment center, taking up lots of room there and collecting lots of dust. I also didn't want a USB port dangling from my laptop. IMPORTANT TIP: If you use one of these to connect USB hard drives to your device (as we do with our Home Theater PC/TV Boxes), be aware that your device will assign new USB port letters to the new USB ports that you have just added with this hub. Therefore, if you have previously designated a path for any media on a connected USB hard drive (using Kodi or other media player software), and then you plug that same hard drive into one of these new ports on this USB hub, then you will probably have to go back and change the path of your added media to the new USB port's letter so that Kodi (or other media center software that you might be using) will be able to find your media in its new location.

Not exactly what I was expecting . + updade
I FEEL I NEED TO MAKE AN IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have had this product for a few days now I had it sitting on my nightstand very closely next to my bed with my phone plugged in along with two tablets I probably had it to close because I wanted my phone close by while charging it my bad for having something I knew was electrical and loose and knowing it shouldn't be that loose but still using it. Thankfully I get up a lot during the night because it got so hot it burned through my sheets and my mattress cover. So with me trying to save an extra dollar I actually lost $30 sheet set and a $65 mattress cover . I didn't even realize that this thing got hot like that I knew it'd have problems staying plugged in correctly I don't know if it just melted it or had a spark the damage it did to my bedding is awful there also wasn't any smoke in the room so I don't know if that would make it a fire hazard or not . I purchased this product and was a little disappointed in it at first because the hub just wouldn't stay in tight enough and kept falling out of everything. I feel stupid looking back knowing it was loose and the hub kept falling out and it wouldn't rotate. I would tell people that own this to keep an eye on it and unplug everything when not in use. My first complaint about this product was just that it was loose and everything I plugged the main hub into that kept falling back out of. It was also an electrical mattress cover heated so I'm not sure if that added to the problem, the mattress cover worked perfectly fine the 2yrs I had it.

Hit or miss... Could be great, could be terrible (Updated 10/11/17)
Original review: I use this in combination with the Findway 4 Ports USB Printer Share Sharing Switch Hub MT-1A4B-CF to use a keyboard and mouse on numerous devices and it works very well. I chose this particular hub because I've purchased many Sabrent products in the past and have been very satisfied. There is a small blue LED behind the Sabrent logo which lights up, letting you know the hub is active. The swivel connector is a nice touch, but it does feel a bit flimsy. It moves and wobbles around, but unlike another reviewer, I have had zero issues with devices disconnecting. I plugged in a few flash drives to test it and connected it to my computer. I grabbed the entire hub and moved it around in all directions, entirely expecting Windows to notify me that the devices were ejected (write caching was disabled on both drives, just in case). None of the flash drives disconnected and the hub remained illuminated the entire time. Since this is going to be permanently attached to a USB switch, it's not going to be moving much if at all making it a perfect fit for me. I would love to give this 4.5 stars as the build quality doesn't affect the actual functionality of the device. Unfortunately, I cannot attest to how long the hub would work if subjected to constant movement/rotation and plugging/unplugging. Updated review from 4 stars to 3 stars on 10/11/17: Much like another reviewer, I am having issues with this hub disconnecting for no good reason. Unlike that reviewer, my hub is and always has been completely immobile. I never touch it and it never moves. For no good reason, my keyboard and mouse will stop responding for a few seconds and all the LEDs will cycle (indicating the devices lost and regained power) and my computer will make the sound when a new USB device is detected. At first, I thought it was my USB switcher, so I swapped it for my old Tek Republic TUS-400 USB Sharing Switch - 4 Port Manual Switch One USB Device/Hub Between Four Computers which I had used flawlessly for years. Even with the known good USB switch, the will disconnect all devices with the lightest touch. Swapped this Sabrent hub for a known good USB hub and I've had zero issues. Decided to take apart the hub and see what's going on. The way the hub is designed is in two parts. There is the PCB which has the female USB A ports (where you plug in your devices) and then there are 4 wires that connect to the male USB A plug. The wires allow the male head to spin around 180°. Unfortunately, the wires have exposed ends. Because of this, the DATA+ and DATA- lines would come in contact with each other and cause the device to eject. Removed the original 28 AWG wires, replaced them with 18 AWG stranded aluminum, and properly soldered them in place. The hub seems to be working significantly better now, but only time will tell. Knocked a star off because of this.

Works as expected
We're using this with a Raspberry Pi mounted to the back of a TV in a public space. The light weight of the hub made it easy for us to mount it using Velcro tape. The hub is working as expected and seems pretty well constructed. We regularly plug / unplug thumb drives into the hub, and the ports are still holding tight. The rotating USB plug is a nice touch and helped keep the cabling clean.
