Okay, I was wrong...
So far, the first animal quiz does not work. Copied exactly as the book shows. Anyone else have problems with this or other programs in this book?*Updated review: I like it, but I am not experienced with python at all. I had no one to ask questions and was grateful that they included the website to download programs which is where I also was able to look up FAQs. This helped, but my daughters were able to find the solution in the book faster. I take it back, this book is definitely worth it. Indentions are more important than I thought. ;)Good luck to all other moms and dads trying to encourage their kids to learn something new and useful. If you get stuck, as the kids for help :D

But this one before you buy the coding games in python
I bought this book second but wish I had bought it first. Lots of fun little projects that expand on each other. Lessons are simple and easy to follow along. I like that at the end it makes some suggestions with nice hints to expand on what you just did.

Used to write without any previous knowledge
I have used this book to write two minor programs for work with no prior programming knowledge. I wrote one to calculate how many bars of rebar I’ll need for concrete slab and one that I can use for bidding insulation jobs.

Excellent book to teach kids to code
I have tutored a 10 year old and an 11 year old with this book with amazing success. The material is example based and the colors and jokes keep the kids engaged. If you're looking to get anyone around the 9-12 age group started with coding "for real" (i.e., a step above Scratch), this is the book to get.

Best python beginner's book!
I initially bought the book as a gift for Christmas. Unfortunately, instead of my little brother using it, I've used it more! I have read multiple python beginner's books and this one really gets into the detail of the syntaxes. "Adult" python books are normally dry and you become disinterested after an hour of reading it. This book is the complete opposite and you'll read it and follow along for hours... I highly recommend it both young and old.

This is the one
I saw another “Coding for kids - Python” book that had more number of reviews than this one. After comparing the descriptions of both, decided to go with this one because it seemed to have a more “hands on” approach than the other one, and I’m so glad I did. My 9yo absolutely loves it! I only gave him a few pointers and he’s flying through the book really enjoying (and learning) as he builds games and graphics. He’s had literally hundreds of all types of books and he said this one is his favorite. I appreciate that the book shows flow charts. Learning a computer language doesn’t make you a programmer or doesn’t mean you’re learning how to write good code, but I feel this book introduces good practices towards that goal.

As long as you don’t expect the kid to actually learn to code…
The book focuses a lot on using visual and graphics to retain kids’ attention. It does try to explain the coding concepts in python and some code snippets. However…The book uses examples to explain concepts like list, but it also uses deeper knowledge such as random number generator within. The book alone won’t give in-depth illustrations on the latter so kids are likely to only gain impression-like understanding. The book arrangement of explanation and steps of changing code sometimes confuses kids and leave them unsure if they need to change code in place, or they should add them as addition. The book does not come with practices. If your kid is a self-disciplinary prodigy then congrats you can expect a solidified learning result, else you would need to spend time preparing your own coding problems for the little ones so they can experience what it is really like to apply coding to real usage, other than just typing on the keyboard.
