A great little tablet for the price
As long as you are clear for what you want to use this tablet for then it is a great piece of kit. We got it on a Amazon Prime day earlier this year and love the size of it - a real one hand job. The picture when you run a film or stream a programme is crystal clear and can download most streaming apps - but check the tablet specs if you have a specific one you want. For example you have to watch You Tube through the browser. I use the tablet to read news, sport, library books, listen to music and watch TV and streaming services. You will need a bluetooth speaker as the speaker is very quiet but it still gets 5 stars due to the Prime Day value and the ideal size for your bag or "cargo shorts" pocket! Two things to note - the "ads" are just on the lock screen which if you want to display your own photo you can't and if you are playing music and the screen is locked you just need to swipe down from the top and you'll find the music controls. I know some people say it's a pain to unlock the screen every time you want to pause your music but you don't - just swipe down from the top :0)

A great eReader and general tablet on a budget
This is my first Amazon tablet and I wasn’t sure what to expect given the devices extremely low price and specs (relative to other tablets, especially the latest iPads). However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality, size and battery life of the device. The display isn’t HD but it’s good enough for general browsing using amazons silk browser and reading eBooks. The text can sometimes appear small on the 7 inch display but adjusting display and accessibility settings allows you to get a decent text size for readability. While regular ebooks look good… magazines and textbooks require a fair amount of zooming to read text and diagrams. I think this is where the 10 inch Fire tablet is better recommended. Watching movies is ok but you’re only going to get SD level quality here, it’s ok for the occasional TV show but movies deserve a better screen. I’d say it’s alright if you temper expectations on this front. The display doesn’t appear to be glass so I recommend getting either the official case or a screen protector. Sound is ok as it only comes from a mono speaker but I found it passable for general audio and listening to audiobooks. While watching video I’d recommend either wired or Bluetooth headphones The weight of the tablet is good… I think on par with the iPad mini and therefore a decent weight to hold for prolonged periods while reading books. It feels good in the hand and feels of good quality. The tablet isn’t the fastest but it’s not painfully slow either. In my usage with browsing the web, Audible, Prime Video and Kindle it’s been pretty responsive for the most part. The Fire OS is a decent OS if you’re using a lot of Amazon services. Battery life is pretty good and close to the 10 hours claimed by Amazon. Standby times are excellent. Overall if you have expectations in check given the tablets price and use a lot of Amazon services, it’s a good buy. What I like most is its size, so few tablets are small like this these days and it’s great to carry around a device I can read ebooks and browse the web on that doesn’t weigh much, has long battery life and is way way cheaper than an iPad mini. I still have a mini but I really like this device and its price means you don’t worry about dropping a 500 plus device while out and about, staying in hospital, traveling etc. I’d say it’s a really decent tablet for Amazons lowest price Fire device.

It's a pretty solid and affordable unit
I didn't know what to expect from the 2022 amazon fire model. Having had android tablets before I know they can generally be a bit slow and under performing. First things first - out of the box the unit is great - it's super light - the denim colour is nice and it actually feels pretty nice in the hand. The screen display is pretty good quality compared to some other cheap android equivalents so I was really happy with this. The integration to amazon services is really good and one of the best sellers of this tablet, it integrates nicely with alexa and is happy to help you manage your home from the tablet - even with some control of ring doorbell etc. My main criticism of the device is the app store - it's severely lacking in popular apps. Things that you would consider as standard apps for apple and google play store just aren't available in the amazon app store which really restricts the usage of the app in my opinion. If you want a tablet that; - Allows you to browse the internet - Take advantage of all the amazon eco-system - Is cheap as chips This really is the tablet for you. If you want a tablet that has some level of app support - unfortunately I would recommend looking elsewhere for another google equivalent. I would imagine that a lot of users are upgrading their tablet from a previous generation so hopefully this isn't a concern and is definitely a worthwhile upgrade from earlier models. Overall very impressed with it generally - I just wish the app store was a bit more extensively supported by app developers.

A nice basic tablet
I bought this as a cheap alternative to using my expensive ipad in grubby, wet, varying situations where it might be damaged. I treat the Fire 7 as a very useful, more expendable alternative. I really only use the Fire 7 for audiobooks, the odd youtube instructional vids, and checking user/repair manuals. A task it copes with very well. Now the ‘bad’ points. The Fire 7 has a small, low resolution screen, and does not have the best quality speaker, so don’t buy it specifically to watch films. There again, it costs under £70. For me, the screen is good enough for watching referencing stuff, and the tablet is small enough to stuff inside a pocket. As for the sound, either use headphones, or a speaker, problem solved. The battery is not great, and will soon run out if you use power eating software. Again, it’s under £70. I deleted all unnecessary social media, and email apps to keep things simple, and my tablet’s battery lasts remarkably well. Oh, I also turn the tablet completely off if it’s not going to be used for several days. The memory and storage are limited. Yes, again, what do you expect for under £70. I fitted the biggest capacity sd card that I could, and made that the main storage for the tablet. It happily runs at an acceptable speed, for my needs. The only things that do annoy me, are:- 1/ On a number of websites which are ad heavy, the Fire 7 can become a bit ‘flighty’. Fortunately, you have the option to switch to a simplified view of these websites. 2/ The Fire 7 isn’t comparable with my f-secure software, which I use on every other device I own (including my ipad and Galaxy 21a phone). In conclusion, this an alternative, cheap, useable, and a bit more expendable to using your more expensive devices outdoors, in the workshop, taking selfies on the edge of that 1,000 foot cliff, wrestling wild haggis, whatever.

Perfect
This tablet is perfect. At such a low price, the quality is amazing. I’d say they’re durable and perfect for children. My kids love theirs. Games run perfect and smoothly, videos play perfect and smoothly. They’re easy to set up. I’d definitely recommend this tablet. The screen quality is amazing. Memory capacity is really good for Netflix, YouTube, Roblox, Minecraft ( the larger apps ) and then the smaller ones like subway surf, candy crush, Lucas and Friends learning, Drawing and Colouring apps. I will always stick with Amazon Fire Tablets for my kids. The size is perfect for them too. The list goes on. I’ve not had a negative thing to say so far. And we’ve been buying Amazon Fire tablets for the last 3 years. Perfect. Thank yo

Small and mighty
This product is quite small and the actual screen is about the same size as many mobile phones even though you think its bigger because there is a blank border around the screen. I find this quite adequate for my needs as I mainly wanted it to listen to the radio in bed as my area has a poor digital radio reception. Easily held in one hand, light and portable. It has all the apps I need on and is fine for watching tv programmes, I don't need bells and whistles. Perfect for me, long battery life and a good price, recommended.

Incredible, unbeatable value.
I purchased this on a deal for only £29.99, and let me say that for this price point - even at the full price - this tablet is amazing for what it costs. This is the 2nd fire tablet I've purchased from Amazon and I'm once again amazed by what you get for a very affordable price. I've posted photos comparing the size of the Fire 7 2022 (pink) Vs the Fire HD 8 2020 (Blue). Positives: - Nice modern UI based on Android 11. - Nice colourful display that isn't crystal clear however it is still usable for all your day to day tasks, or for watching videos. - A smooth enough processor that can handle basic apps and games with few stutters. You can play mini games like block blast, candy crush or other small games on this device for hours on end! - One of the best battery lifes on a tablet, You can easily get 10hours of screen time on one charge. - Type C port and a headphone jack included. - Google play store can be downloaded to give you access to more apps. There are plenty of websites that will show you how to download it. - 1TB of expandable storage, perfect for downloading loads of non WiFi games, books, audiobooks etc to use while on the go. Negatives: - Camera quality is below average, and is only just about good enough to take a photo every now and then, or for video calling. - Amazon app store is very limited, forcing you to side load Google play store for a wider selection of apps. - Ads on lock screen. These are not intrusive at all, however, if you contact Amazon nicely, they will likely remove them for free! - Slow charging. Charges at 5W using the included power adapter and at a max of 5.2V, 1.8A (9.36W) using a higher power adaptor. NOTE: People need to understand that if they want a device to handle all their power intensive tasks, they will need to spend more money. This tablet is not designed to play call of duty or other FPS games, or to have countless apps open in the background, expecting it to keep it all in memory without the need to refresh with only 2GB of RAM. I myself don't use this tablet as my main device, I use a Galaxy Tab S8+ for work, productivity, multitasking and power hungry apps. But, this little fire tablet is all you ever need when your lying in bed and want to read a book, watch a video, or to listen to music using headphones. Conclusion: This tablet will never compare to other tablets in terms of performance, customisation, features etc. The device costs less than £100 and even as low as £30 during a sale. For this price point, you get a device that's portable, perfect for watching videos, reading books or playing small games. It also lasts ages on one charge, making it perfect for while on a plane, or somewhere where access to power may be limited.
