David & Goliath

I LOVE the story of David and Goliath, but the movie missed the main part when David told Goliath that he is coming to him IN THE NAME OF THE LORD. The role that was quoted was not scriptural. But on the otherhand, Orsen Welles played Saul to the tee. He was excellent in that role. David was okay. Overall it was an okay movie. I will watch it again and again.

I view this film often. It evokes the declining reign of King Saul and God's anointing of young shepherd David as Israel's future king very much according to Scripture. Memorable scenes are: the prophet Samuel exposing King Saul's fall from grace; David's sad, sudden loss of a first love and the aftermath as he comes to terms with the mystery of why God allowed her to be taken from David; the multiple court intrigues; and the climax. Only digression from the Bible is the outcome of Abner's fate. Highly recommended viewing along with Gregory Peck in "David & Bathsheba" ~

when he projects he does it in ways nobody ever except brando their sheer bulk lends to the strength of the performance as many of his films shake the foundations as he plays a nazi in an earlier film whatever he plays he pulls his vast steel of thought to the screen it shows in the performance this just one those

One of the best David films, great actor Orson Welles.

Saw this picture when I was young in the theatre. It is actually a good movie. Good costumes and sets and is in color and was very cheap price. The color is a bit fuzzy and scattered in some places - watchable though. But is a good depiction of the David and Goliah Bible story.
