5 stars for value, size, cooking ability, and versatility in the kitchen. Bought this as a Christmas gift for an out of State family member. She LOVES it! Pre-seasoned to perfection, no-stick, Easy to clean... what else could you ask for? Nothing! She said the blue finish is beautiful as well.

Great starter cast iron skillet
This has been a great introduction to cooking with cast iron for me. The skillet arrived pre-seasoned and ready to use, which made the learning curve feel much less intimidating. It heats evenly and retains heat well, especially once it has fully warmed up, which has been great for things like searing, sautéing, and oven use. I am still learning proper cast iron care and seasoning, but so far it has been forgiving and easy to work with. Food releases better each time I use it, and clean-up has been straightforward as long as I follow basic cast iron rules. The pan feels sturdy and well made, with a good amount of weight that gives it a quality feel. Overall, this seems like a very solid option for beginners who want to start cooking with cast iron without spending a lot. I am happy with it so far and expect it will only get better with continued use.

Love it!
12” Cast Iron Skillet – Product Review If you want a pan that can handle anything from stovetop searing to campfire cooking, the Lodge 12-inch cast iron skillet is a true kitchen workhorse. Right out of the box, it feels heavy, durable, and honestly a little old-school—in the best way. The pre-seasoned finish gives it a natural non-stick feel that only gets better with each use. After a few weeks of cooking steaks, cornbread, bacon, and even a gooey skillet cookie, the surface has become incredibly slick. What Stands Out: • Excellent Heat Retention: This skillet holds heat like a champ. Steaks get that perfect crust, and cornbread comes out evenly browned with crisp edges. • Versatility: Oven, stovetop, grill, or open flame—this thing goes anywhere. It’s the pan you can pass down to the next generation. • Pre-seasoned Convenience: No stressful seasoning process to start; just rinse, dry, oil lightly, and cook.

Great Everyday Skillet with a Few Quirks
Great Everyday Skillet with a Few Quirks I’ve been cooking with this 12-inch Utopia cast iron skillet for several weeks now, and it’s become one of my go-to pans for everyday meals. It comes pre-seasoned, which made it ready to use out of the box. I gave it a quick rinse, dried it thoroughly, added a light oil rub, and it was good to go. The surface has a decent non-stick quality once warmed up, and it holds heat beautifully for searing steaks, sautéing vegetables, or even baking cornbread. What I really like is its size—large enough to handle family-style portions, but not so huge that it feels like a burden to store. The weight is substantial (as all cast iron is), but I can manage it comfortably with the long handle plus the helper grip on the opposite side. It transitions easily from stovetop to oven, and it feels right at home on a gas flame or in the oven for finishing dishes. That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. It does take some maintenance—washing by hand, drying right away, and re-oiling to keep the seasoning intact. Skip the soap and don’t soak it, or you’ll risk rust. The edges are slightly rougher than higher-end cast iron pans I own, so eggs or delicate fish can stick if I’m not careful. Also, it takes a little longer to heat evenly across the entire pan, so preheating is key. Bottom line: A reliable, budget-friendly cast iron skillet that’s versatile enough for stovetop, oven, and grill use. It may not be as smooth or refined as pricier brands, but with proper care, it does the job well and should last for years.

Trust the process
Great cast iron but requires work. Heat level is tolerable. Easy to use and convenient. Easy to clean. The up keep is a bit much but I appreciate the process.

Beautiful Cast Iron Skillet
I was obsessed with Le Creuset and bought every pan, pot, and skillet they made — always the enameled versions because I knew nothing about seasoning. I thought it would be complicated, and didn’t understand the purpose so the enameled version seemed easier, but I became very disillusioned with it because the food would stick and it was so difficult to clean! I moved away from cast iron for a while, but I quickly realized there is no better pan to cook with than cast iron if you want food that tastes amazing and has great heat conductivity, you want cast iron! I decided to buy this skillet , which was very reasonably priced. I learned all about seasoning, and I could not be happier with this purchase! It does come with one coat of pre seasoning, but you want several coats for optimum performance, and I learned a shortcut. For the first seasoning , I heated my oven to 400 degrees. Then, using flaxseed oil, I rubbed the flaxseed oil into the top,, sides, handle and lip of the pan. Next you take a dry paper towel and thoroughly wipe off all of the excess oil from every surface. Next get a baking sheet and turn the pan upside down and place it on top of the baking sheet. Apply a coat of flaxseed oil to the entire bottom, sides, and handle of the pan, and then with a dry paper towel, wipe off all of the excess oil. Next put the pan in the oven for one hour. Turn the oven off and allow it to cool for one hour before removing. This one complete seasoning allows you to coat the bottom of the pan, but for the next three coats of seasoning, this can be done entirely on the stove top in about 15 minutes. Again, take another coat of flaxseed oil and rub it into the pan on the sides and the handle and the outside, but not the bottom. Turn on a medium flame and let the skillet sit on the flame for 4 minutes. I moved it around a bit with tongs until the entire pan appeared dry. Let it sit for 2 minutes and apply another coat of seasoning. I did this 3 times so that in total (including the coat of seasoning it came with), there were 5 coats of seasoning. Afterwards, I cooked a steak. Not only did it taste amazing, but I learned how important it is to properly season the pan! The non stick surface worked perfectly when cooking, and cleaning the pan was a dream! Nothing stuck to the pan, and it was clean in 2 minutes! Le Creuset is just overpriced! Cast Iron is cast iron, and this pan will last forever! Do not put it in the dishwasher or it will rust! You can completely refurbish a rusted cast iron pan, but it’s a process so don’t let it rust’ You will not be disappointed with this pan! Look up the video from Gordon Ramsey on YouTube of how to cook a perfect steak. Follow his simple directions, and you will have a steak that will rival any five star restaurant!

I hesitated for ages before getting a cast-iron pan, but I wished I had bought this earlier. Excellent value, this has high sides, a useful helper handle, and the pre-seasoned coating is absolutely amazing. First time out my steak didn't catch once. This cooks the most amazing seared and succulent chicken breasts, and is useful for all sorts of cooking. I don't worry too much about the cleaning regime. I've had it for a couple of months now, and simply wait until it's cool before running it under water and use a scrubbing brush to dislodge the debris. I then put it on the hob for a few minutes to ensure all the moisture has been driven away, and that's it! The coating gets better as you use it, just ensure you don't leave it wet.
