APIGH & KH TEST KIT Freshwater Aquarium Water Test Kit 1-Count

I'm just starting my adventure with aquariums and am in the process of setting up my tank. I needed a reliable test kit, and the API GH & KH Test Kit has been perfect. It's easy to use and provides accurate results, which is exactly what I needed. Highly recommend for anyone getting started!

I really enjoy using the API liquid tests, I find they’re the most accurate and clear to read. However, the glass vials I am not a fan of. Right when I opened the box and set the vial on the table it rolled off and shattered. That’s the second vial that has broken on me. One of the other API kits I have came with a plastic vial with a lid attached and I wish all were like that. They’re easy to rinse out, I would recommend getting some pipettes to measure out the correct amount of water into the vial. Makes it so much easier and less messy. Overall, had it not been for the glass I would have rated five stars.

This API Nitrite test kit is for testing fresh water or salt water for levels of nitrite. Used mainly for aquariums as nitrite, if present in water, can be harmful to fish.The test kit is very easy to use. You just fill up the test tube that is provided, to 5ml. There is a marking on the test tube so you know when it has reached 5ml. You then add 5 drops of the solution provided, put the lid on the tube, then shake it for 5 seconds. Wait for 5 minutes, then compare the colour of the water to the colours on the test card. It is that simple.Depending on the colour, the instructions can give you some advice on what to do, which is very helpful. The colour card has six different colours. The ranges are 0 ppm, 0,25 ppm, 0.50 ppm, 1.0 ppm, 2.0 ppm and 5.0 ppm. You can see the colour card in the picture that I added above. It also has a step by step picture guide on how to test your water.I mainly purchased this for when I was cycling my fish tank. Once the ammonia started to go down, the nitrite level was rising. I had to keep an eye on this level so I knew when to do water changes so my fish didn't become too sick. My fish tank successfully cycled, but it is also useful to check water levels after cycling. I normally test for nitrite 2 days after the weekly water change when all levels are settled. I believe that test results can be distorted if you test too soon after a water change because of the reaction in the water when you add dechlorinator. My nitrite has stayed at 0ppm but it puts my mind at rest to know for sure.All in all, this test kit has been very helpful to me, especially during the stages when I was just beginning my fish hobby.

I believe it tests right. Ofcourse only got this to test the water so nothing to compare. It comes with a very handy plastic 5ml test tube that got a lid that is attached. Prefer using this one.

I had always used test strips, but on using this liquid test, I found my strips were very inaccurate...by as much as 10ppm. Instructions seem a lot but after the first couple of times you will find it easy to use, and so much more accurate than the test strips. I keep Dwarf Rams and have a possible breeding pair, so accuracy of my water tests is important.

Great value for accurate results. The instructions can be abut misunderstood but after searching some forums online, it’s easy to understand.

Did the test and the PH was within the range and test kit worked.The real question is does it really have 250 tests. I will be keeping track.:)

Good value for money, easy to to use, fairly accurate and adequate for aquarium use. The testing solution will last for years and years if not used too frequently. I like this product.
