I understand that this brush is suitable for black female hair-correct?

It's the best option for thick, curly Black hair. It is able to be taken apart completely for cleaning, as well as customizing the brush to better suit the users hair type. My hair has destroyed many a brush, but not this one.

Is it good for curly hair? It won’t break or rip it off?

Yes it is good for curly hair, i have 4c natural afro hair and it works for me, just make sure you use plenty of slip/ moisture on your hair so it's easier to use.

What is the difference between the d14 and d3 or any other d number please?

I think it's mostly about the spacing of the bristles which needs to be different according to your hair type. Certain textures need a wide set brush for detangling compared to others needing a more narrow set to manage their hair. They are spaced slightly differently - I actually did a bit of online research for my hair type and then physically compared the brushes in a shop before buying on Amazon, which was cheaper at the time.

is this a genuine Denman brush and does it come in the Denman packaging?

I purchased mine quiet a long time ago well over a year and it was genuine and in packaging
