Great alternative to a Skype phone when used with Sipgate Basic
After using Skype with a Skype phone for some time, I was looking for an alternative. This phone combined with the Sipgate Basic package is a great option. This Grandstream device seems to be good value with all the essential features that you need. It needs to be placed near your router or powerline adapter as it will need to be plugged into it directly. It also has a speakerphone option and support for a headset and can be configured for two SIP accounts. Ideal for use in a home office where you need an extra line, but don't want to pay line rental. If you have previously used a Skype phone or something similar, then this is a great alternative.

Great for small business home office
Excellent for the price. Quick and easy to set up. Call quality is very good. Great for the home office. I have mine powered by POE but it does come with a power supply as well. image attached.

Excellent basic VoIP phone
First one was faulty and had to go back, but that happens. I've bought lots of Grandstream phones. Decent call quality, easy enough to configure, and enough features for most applications. Call quality is good. PoE is great - no ugly power bricks under desks. We use Voipfone and find these and our other Grandstream units work flawlessly.

Comes with Euro plug. Needs a UK adapter.
Bit annoying that this came with a UK plug. Also the cat5 cable it came with isn't very long.

Nice phone, works well.
Bought to use this with Sipgate Basic, and it works well enough. Configuration is via the built-in webserver, so you'll need another device for the nitty gritty configuration details. Worth noting that Sipgate Basic doesn't support the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) so no matter how you set the phone up, you don't get the red flashing light to let you know you've got voicemail. Although it doesn't matter as Sipgate can email you the voicemail file instead so it's no real loss.

Too complicated for home phone
This phone needed to configured to work. My phone provider was sky and the information needed to configure the phone was never given to customers. I bought this as it was VOIP compatible. I'm stuck with a phone that I can't use.

Good quality basic office or or advanced home VoIP phone
Later generation of the popular Grandstream VOIP phone. This comes with a conventional power supply, but has Power Over Ethernet support built in, so just needs a PoE injector or PoE switch. I used a TP-LINK TL-PoE150S PoE Injector Adapter which auto-negotiated the correct voltage. Configuation via the built in web interface is straightforward, but still working on uploading address book details (which can be added using the keypad). Phone supports two VoIP accounts, so it can have two numbers. It can also be set up to reject direct IP calls so avoiding phantom ringing from hacking attacks. NB this is an IP phone and will not work over a standard telephone line.

Excellent telephone.
An excellent telephone that us a doddle to program if you have a little aptitude. Not problematic in any way. Sound quality excellent. Some may find this rather more straightforward than using a Linksys internet phone adapter.
