Excellent braiser fro cooking
This was my first time buying a Merten and Storck product and it is beautiful quality. I used it last night for the first time and absolutely loved cooking with it. It was also very easy to clean, just soaked it for a bit with hot water and then wiped nicely clean with a bit of dish soap. I bought this as my Le Creuset dutch oven is so heavy. I wanted something lighter and less big. Although this did not retain the heat as long once removed from the oven, I am perfectly fine with that for the trade off in lighter weight. Very nice quality item.

My new favorite pan
I debated for some time about spending the money to buy this Merten & Storck brasier, but I'm so glad I bought it. This is not some cheap enameled iron pan. It is a high quality pan (like all German-made products). It's heavy but not nearly as heavy as cast iron (I've given all my cast iron stuff--the 6-qt dutch oven and various skillets to my son because they are too heavy for me now). This 4-qt brasier is perfect in every way from the color (gorgeous Cloud Gray), to the size (perfect for the two of us), to the versatility, to the ease of cleanup. I've had it for over four months, use it about three times a week, and it looks brand new.

Weighs less than cast iron. Cooks just as well.
Well made. After 6 months the ceramic finish is still holding up. Really appreciate the light weight when handling with oven mitts. Can't tell any difference in cooking as compared to heavy cast iron pots.

Lightweight
After much research, I bought this Dutch Oven as a gift for my daughter, who was wanting one. Dutch Ovens are very heavy and the better brands are expensive. This one is lightweight and has the technology of even cooking, without the heaviness of traditional cast iron. My daughter has a glass-top stove and I knew it would be safe to use on that surface. This brand is expensive too. However, the old saying, “You get what you pay for,” is true. This pot comes in a large assortment of colors. If you are not picky about the color, sometimes one is featured at a special price. The colors more in demand, cost more. All cook the same.

Functions Like Le Creuset
It holds in heat to cook food quickly at a low setting. The top seals well. It does a cobbler nicely in the oven and looks beautiful as a serving piece. The food stays warm in transport. The weight of the piece is so much easier to lift and move around than the heavier brands Do not try to fry as food will stick eventually. Meats sear well and the pot simmers the meat so tender. It really gets hot and holds the heat in as stated earlier. Clean and dry right after use and it will look brand new. I leave mine on the stove for decoration
