This is a weighted base. It will be used for our GPS and with an extra holder for my cell phone. I loaned mine to my daughter to see if it would work for her. She tried it, loved it and purchased another one for herself. She remarked that the base is so good that while using the GPS on her phone, she can easily rotate her phone for either vertical or horizontal viewing, without disturbing the view of the gps or moving the base on the textured dashboard. Definitely a good product at a reasonable price.

This dash mount is heavy and is great for slanted dashes. I have a Jeep Renegade that doesn’t have a flat spot for my gps and I don’t want to use my window. So I purchased this and was pretty impressed. It doesn’t move at all when it’s placed on the dash. I’ve seen people complain about mounting the suction into the unit itself but cleaning the suction part of the gps before getting it to attach helps a lot. Once it’s on it doesn’t fall off. I actually came back to buy another one for my truck and decided to leave a review.

I think this mount would work great on any flat dash, not sure how it will work on a curved or domed surface like I have. First, I used the mount that came with my Garmin 1095 and that Garmin suction mount clamps onto the base of this mount almost semi-permanently! Make sure you line up the two mounts carefully so that the front of the GPS lines up with the cutout. Separating the two later is hard! The base of this mount is some kind of gel like material. It's "grippy" more than "sticky", it will not slide around. It's heavy an balanced and does not tip over easily. However, the bottom is flat and rigid, not floppy like a bean bag. It will not conform to curved or domed surfaces so the amount of contact area is reduced. I'm keeping this on faith as there's no way to tell if this will work until I start to drive some highways in Louisiana and Texas. I'll find out then, fingers crossed!

Used it for the backup camera monitor for my RV. trailer. I thought the monitor might be too heavy for this type mount, Still I wanted to give it a try. I was wrong. This is fantastic. Very heavy. item. does not slide around. 100% better than sticking the section Cup to the windshield. Money well spent.

Quite effective tool! The weight does a pretty good job of holding everything in place. And the rubber bottom is effective (but about 75% full proof, still slides around a lil bit on sharp turns and stops) I think it's a good tool and probably one of the better things for the job on the market after shopping around a bit.

I was searching for a friction mount for my Jensen portable carplay device. This is the only holder that could support it without having me suction to the windshield or dashboard. This is very well made, can support heavier portable devices. Recommend it to all

The bean bag is heavy enough to support my CarPlay unit. This allows me to position the CarPlay anywhere on the dash. Also,I can take it all off the dash and set it on the floor out of sight and out of sunlight when parked. It works perfect for me.
