Great for dogs who pull.
Genuinely a fantastic product. I was highly sceptical but decided to try and was shocked on its effectiveness. Was being used on a 1 year old Labrador girl. Initially, she tried to swipe it off her nose. Got used to the straps very quickly ( same day ) now wears it every day with zero, I really do mean zero pulling. Before, a harness was about the best way to keep control of her without causing any discomfort but as she grew and got so much stronger, this became an issue for her and her breathing. No more harness is required. Simply this product is all we use now. Can't speak highly enough of such a simple little pair of straps. No, your dog is not muzzled Yes, your dog can chase and pick up balls, sticks and even eat, drink etc.. with this on with zero issues. No, it doesn't cause them any stress or "rubbing" even with 2-4+ hour walks. No, it's not tight and neither will it fall off. It's very comfortable in its fit. Product pretty much is as it's described. really lightweight, Good quality straps, will definitely last a long time with daily use and can be tailored to fit your exact dog breed perfectly. Given you bought the correct size for your pet

Stops pulling and calms collie.
Product was delivered the day after I ordered it, so very pleased. I started using it straight away on our 7 month old border collie and he has had no issues with it. I have previously used halti headcollars on two of our dogs and both of them constantly tried to get them off, that didn't happen with this one so I assume it is a lot more comfortable. The webbing used in lovely and soft with no stiffness or hard edges like some. The collar and muzzle strap are adjustable separately so you can get the perfect fit for any dog. It can also be used just as a normal collar if you have a dog who doesn't need the extra control at all times. It has stopped our dog pulling and does seem to have a calming effect on him too. Much gentler than risking damage to his thrat from pulling and much more control than a harness. I will add one negative, not about the product itself, but about the 'training' guide which comes with it. The guide suggests what I would consider harsh handling methods such as using the headcollar to pull your dogs head up to get it to sit (completly unecessasry), and pulling the dogs head around to face you when it tries to pull (even done gently this could seriously danage your dogs neck/spine). Great product but I recommend you just throw the booklet in the bin when ou get it :)

Plastic clip not strong enough to last
This works great! However, the plastic clip isn't very strong and broke quite quickly. I have purchased a few as it works so well and 100% works against pulling. It's a a shame the clip isn't stronger.

Excellent tool if used correctly!
We were pointed to this product by our dog trainer and are very pleased she recommend it. The minimal straps make the dog more comfortable, we have tried another brand and the amount of straps really seemed to annoy the dog. Its easy to fit and looks very simple on the dog. From our opinion the dog finds it more than comfortable to wear and is happy to use it. As long as used correctly with the correct training its an excellent tool. Its not as simple as putting it on and go, its a matter of time and training correctly to get the best out of the product. We liked it so much we bought another (in a different colour) for our other dog and it does the job perfectly. It certainly makes walking a dog much easier and more enjoyable. We used this on our young Labrador and before having the gentle leader she was a nightmare to walk, she was a strong puller. Once trained with this walking her because much easier and now I always enjoy taking her for a walk. Just remember if your using this on a dog that pulls then attach the lead to both the gentle leader and the collar, use a training lead for this. Also remember never use on an extendable lead as this could cause serious harm to the dogs neck. Basically as long as you use it correctly its a fantastic tool and makes walking your dog a pleasure!

Very effective, no more pulling!
I have a very strong and determined 11 month old Springer Spaniel boy who pulls like mad. Walking with just a collar and lead is impossible so i decided to use a harness. Ive tried a couple and the first was comfortable for the dog but not effective for pulling, the second wasn't very comfortable and chaffed but worked a bit better (still not great). So i decided to give a halti a try, I've always been against them after hearing stories about damaging the areas the strap sits on from rubbing. I thought id give it a try because for me, the few pounds it would cost was worth a go if it would mean i could walk my dog. First time using it, its fits on to the dogs so much easier with less hassle than any harness and the result was instant. Unlike a harness where you can hold the dog back easier, this doesn't require any force at all because the dog simply doesn't pull. Why i don't know. After a few days with my dog trying to take it off with his paws making walking quite difficult, he eventually got over it and understands that he should just walk normally and it is much more enjoyable for both of us. id recommend taking it slowly to begin with to let them get use to it being on their face, maybe do this by having short but frequent minute walks down the road/house and just having the dog sit there with it on whilst rewarding them for not trying to take it off. The only issue that worries me, well it did at the beginning was that if you let your dog paw at the strap, they can remove it and on a busy road, this is terrifying. You could maybe have another lead slack in your hand that is attached to the collar just in case though I'm sure its unlikely that they would remove it whilst on a walk without you noticing. Definitely something to think about though in case you stop on the side of the road to talk to someone and it manages to come off your dogs nose.

Ineffective
well this was a real disappointment. I had high hopes of item. It arrived nicely packaged and is well made. Nice clear instruction book included. Unfortunately my dog doesn’t read so well. Fitted it following the instructions, and with a co operative dog it would work I think. However the whole point is for it to help manage a difficult one. My experience is that when I tried to use it with 8kg of writhing annoyed cairn terrier doing her best to pull the thing off it soon slipped out of position so did not do the job. I tried adjusting it in case it was too loose but even when a bit on the tight side , more than suggested in the instructions she still managed to haul it out of place and finally hanging off altogether. From the reviews other folks seem to have more success, so it might be worth trying it, maybe it will work for you, Amazon’s excellent returns policy makes it possible to try it. I shall have to return mine and try one of a different design, something which is stroppy little Cairn proof.

this absolutely 100% works
This is the first product review that I've written on Amazon but I'm so impressed with the results I've had this head collar / lead that I had to write the experience up. I'm about 1 week in using this head collar and here is what I can say so far after such a short period of time. I can easily politely describe my 7 month old German Shepherd Mitzy as a problem dog. I've been taking her out for walks after she had all of her vaccination shots around the 12 week / 3 month mark and she's been dragging my arms out of their sockets ever since. I read that this is normal reaction to being on a lead for some dogs because they naturally like to pull against resistance but definitely not good for me because every walk used to be like a workout - on one particular occasion she moved forwards and then reversed in the opposite direction so fast that my left shoulder was in spasm for about a week. Mitzy has a tendency to get very agitated when she sees other dogs out walking. She tends to bark and lunge at other dogs and I'm afraid to say that on a few occasions she's scared the life out of other pedestrians with her barking and dragging antics. I had a false start with one of these Gentle Leader head collars that I bought from a local pet store; I left it on the worktop after taking it out of the plastic wrapper, turned my back for about a minute and Mitzy had pretty much eaten and destroyed it before we'd even had a chance to try it out. Undeterred, I bought another from Mr Pets on Amazon and I'm so happy I did. I won't lie, Mitzy really didn't like this on her head at first. She was twisting around and around trying to get it off. It took about 15 minutes or so of walking and talking her around the house and garden before I felt happy enough to have a go taking her for a proper walk. Once we were outside walking properly, she was instantly transformed from the dog on a lead that she'd been for months prior to this - the pulling was completely and immediately gone. On this first walk she occasionally stopped and would try and pull the lead off with her paws but with a little bit of gentle coaxing and a small treat, we'd be off again. Since that 1st walk she's been getting better and more used to the gentle leader every day. Mitzy walks right beside me to heel if I shorten the lead and there's always no pulling at all. Altogether she is a transformed dog when out walking and much less irritated and disturbed by other dogs on leads and other people walking close / coming up behind us. I feel more confident with her near other people on the pavement and she's altogether a lot calmer than she was. Prior to getting and using this collar I'd tried a control body harness, a half check collar and a training lead. I'd had minor success with the other things but this gentle leader collar really is the one. It's really easy to put on / get off quickly too which is great for reducing trauma in this area for both dog and owner at the start / end of the walk. 5 stars - fabulous.
