To clear things up. This is a diameter tape in cm. Not a cm on one side and inch on the other. This is the confusion on many of the negative reviews saying inch units are way off. Ex. Wrap the tape around something with cm side up and measure the circumference. Say it reads the 22cm. Now flip the tape over and it will 7. That 7 means the diameter of that is 7cm. Now take the cm side again and measure the diameter of the same object you measured the circumference and you’ll see it measures 7 cm. Hope this clears up the negative reviews on the numbers on the backside

Unless you have the money to waste on a very expensive gag gift, do not buy this! An inch is not an inch but is 1-1/4 inch. Why would anyone waste money on something like this? Revised my rating on 12/12/2023): The manufacturer sent me another of the same tape measure, and it too was off on the inch measurement. The metric side is correct, and what I needed most, and the inch side is far enough off to be clearly wrong (no doubt about it). Users should know to use another measuring device for the inch measurement.

18/April/2018 First, I'd like to say that I am a physician. I bought this tape after a friend of mine, a nutritionist/dietitian, recommended the product to me. I'd also like to mention that I have not been paid or received any remuneration in any way shape or form to alter my review. Although I'm giving the product three stars, I'm having a hard time deciding on a rating... it's between 2.5/5 and 3.5/5 stars, and here's why: I find that using a normal sewing measuring tape is inconvenient for me... Not only is it a bit big for me, I have to unfold them and fold them back up again. At the hospital, I need to be constantly moving from one place to another, so a small, retractable measuring tape like this one seemed to be the right choice. When I bought this item (I believe I purchased it for 19.29 USD), the product seemed to be well made. The measuring tape is thin and the measurements seem to be accurate. It has about 8 cm at the beginning of the tape that is blank before the actual measurements start, which makes it convenient when measuring a patient (i.e. taking anthropometric measurements). It measures centimeters/millimeters on one side and on the other side it measures diameter cm to mm. However!! Right out of the box, my hopes and dreams of finding the perfect measuring tape for my clinical practice were let down when I pulled on the tape past the 35-40 cm mark. It doesn't matter if I pull on the tape fast or slowly; the tape starts to stall while retracting... and then it doesn't retract at all when it's almost done until I give it a nice shake. I asked my friend to lend me hers and her tape expands and retracts perfectly. I must note that I have never dropped the product. All in all, the tape is okay but I am disappointed after paying almost $20 for a faulty product. It makes me wonder about the long term durability of the product, and I expect and desire a durable product at this price point.

These are the go to for measuring tree diameters. They fit in the palm of your hand, are spring loaded so retract easily. They will eventually get gummed up with sap but can be cleaned off with alcohol. I wish the spring lasted longer but that is my only criticism.
