The Hunger Games: Triple Pack [DVD] [2015]

I was not quite sure what these films was about at all. It also had Jennifer Lawrence as the main star, and before this set of films, I did not like her at all. But she was good. I thought the three films was that good, I got the four film in the series as well.

Very good box set consisting of 'The Hunger Games', 'THG Catching Fire' and 'THG Mockingjay Part 1'.All three films have English subtitles for the hearing impaired, and English audio.Please note that the fourth film, 'THG Mockingjay Part 2' is not included in this box set which is the set that states it is a "3 Movie Set" at the top of the front cover.Though I headline that this is for teenagers, there is plenty going on for a larger audience including the marvelous Stanley Tucci as the tv host of 'The Games', Donald Sutherland as dictator President Snow, Woody Harrelson as adviser to our heroine and a cameo from chubby Toby Jones. But it's Jennifer Lawrence who carries the films and she is a wonderful choice as the central character for both old and young as she has such a physical presence.

Three films in one boxed set for less than a tenner...what's not to like?I didn't watch the tv series but I know it was acclaimed. I probably wouldn't have bought the YA books. But these are three belting dystopian films. I had fairly low expectations ( bit like Maze Runner, which I really enjoyed, although prior to watching I thought I'd hate) but this is a gripping series. Mockingjay has further to go, as we know and the advantage here is being able to buy the next one separately.I was captivated by the story, with clear classical parallels, the acting and the entire production. Great escapist viewing and I'll watch it again.

This box set is very good value for money,compared to buying the 3 separately.But...it's worth noting,that the first disc has a few seconds edited for violence in comparison to the stand alone title (hence the 12 rating) and also has 5.1 sound quality,instead of the 7.1 included in the stand alone disc.If you can overlook these 2 things,in order to save a few ££'s - then this set is highly recommended.Anyone who buys Blu Ray's for the sound quality,as well as picture quality,I'd suggest buying separately.

Remember and buy Mockingjay Part 2.

Has you wanting to watch the next film after the end of every one. One to keep. Sadly I see our world in it!

Great films, but if you haven't already then go read the books as well!Box set includes 3 individually boxed discs of the 3 films in a standard cardboard sleeve that looks exactly as the picture in the description.No extras on the first film but the following 2 have basic making of, etc.Great sound and picture as you'd expect from bluray versions.
