Shelly H&T Temperature and Humidity Status, Configuration with App Shelly, White

I was looking for a temperature sensor that would send me a notification by email and/or SMS to my phone when the temperature exceeded a certain point. The advertising made it sound like it could do that. Nope, not really. The Shelly device "ecosystem" seems very capable and broad featured but this device alone lacks the ability to send the alarm notifications that are apparently present in the Shelly app and Shelly Cloud (they are grayed out). Wh, wh, WHY??? It says "no sensors available". ISN'T THIS THING A SENSOR? I don't get it. All it can do is send a coded string via HTTP (not HTTPS) to a URL. That's it, period. I can't see any reason why this functionality is missing, but - oh well. I just ordered a MySpool device which CLEARLY DOES send email and SMS notifcations and without an app on your phone.

I bought 4x of these units and all 4x units were terrible (and cannot be returned). I work with computers and networking equipment all day, so you would think that I could get these units to join my Wi-Fi network. Nope. I gave up after 2+ hours. The most success I had was getting one of them to join my Wi-Fi network after 20 tries. The other 3x units would not pair no matter how many times I tried. Moreover, when units would no pair, Shelly's software reported nonsensical error message saying that I had aborted my attempt to connect and other things. I did extensive Internet research on how to overcome the connection errors. Many people report similar issues. These units are simply not ready for prime time.

Good: -nice housing -good performance -lotsa settings Not so good: -installing is worse than taking your evil mother in law for a dinner -app could us a better user interface Bad: -Eats batteries like broken relationship partners eat chocolate -even with low polling settings, batteries deplete fast (6 weeks in my case) -expansive batteries -at low polling rates you cannot use it as an active switching sensor for your heaters and like Suggestion: -buy the USB power bottom -solder two wires to the battery terminals, run the wires outside the case, connect the to a 6 battery AA style battery holder (with batteries in series/parallel configuration to get 3 Volt output. Glue the battery holder to the base of the sensor. Voila: much longer battery life!

The ide behind of this product is fantastic, but the product itself is horrible. First to add it to your network takes long, the Shelly app is pretty horrible!!!! When it is added, after many tries the app can't see the device on the discovered tab... After one hour trying the device shows offline always.. wast of time and money, don't wast your time/money with it, go for a Tuya device, more stable and works better.
