Meiow... I'm Catwoman..
No messing about here, Tim Burton throws us straight in at the deep end. Baddies galore, Max Schreck, a delicious Michelle Pfieffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and who can forget Danny DeVito as the creepy Penguin. All out action and funny one-liners make this a stunning sequal... Just a pity about the others that followed...

The Darkest of Knights
Batman returns is far darker and brooding than its predecessor.this was down to the fact that director burton was given carte blancheby the studio to make the film his way and the result is a very disjointed film.batman himself is shoved into the background by the villians, the deformedpenguin and the mysterious catwoman.its a very good looking film to look at, the production design is first rate as arethe special effects, but there is no cohesion to the story and burton cant handleaction very well.At times unpleasant and ponderous.

Tim Burtons follow up. Almost as good as the first.
Love Gotham City under Tim Burtons direction.Such a brilliant visual director.I think this is just about as good as the first Batman under Tim Burton. After that i think the next 2 were nowhere near as good because they didn't have Time Burtons visual flair and great directing.Danny Devito as the Penguin was a great choice. So glad it was Tim Burton who remade Batman for a 1980s and '90s audience.Love both Tim Burtons Batman film's and watching them in Blu-ray was a great experience.Delivered on time and in great condition.

Still one of the best super-hero movies ever!
Okay, so there are loads of little things a bit wrong with this film (the pacing is a bit off at times, things don't quite gel smoothly into a whole story and we seem to spend more time focusing on the villains than the hero) but let's not be picky! This is one of the first films to really show off Tim Burton's unique world view and this alone more than makes up for the things I mention above. It' a classic example of style triumphing over substance - the whole thing is done so well that I really do feel very picky pointing out the faults (as I see them). Production values are superb throughout, consistently bettering the first film and the performances are better too. On Blu-ray, you won't be disappointed - very sharp and clear. Well worth it just so you can wallow in the visuals.

Best Batman Ever !
For some reason I did not buy this film on Dvd, and having watched it on tv. and vhs., I thought it was dark and unwatchable. I'm glad I waited because this Blu-Ray release is simply superb, crystal clear from start to finish, even the dark scenes ( blacks are solid and colours just pop from the screen ). I could see no grain or blemishes at all. The transfer on this disc puts some newer films to shame ( Underworld 3 for instance ). What about the film ? Michael Keaton ( possibly the best Batman ), Danny De Vito ( fantastically over the top as Penguin ) and the stunning Michelle Pfeiffer ( as Catwoman ). This could be contender for best Batman film ever.Highly Recommended. A must own.

"Let's Make A Mayor!"
A drastic change of tone for director Tim Burton makes this solid sequel either “good” or “average” for the Batman series depending how you look at it. Overall, realistically, this sequel probably harkens to the original roots of the comic book character more than the prequel. However at a sacrifice to the slightly outrageous and fun crime-fighting adventure pulp we had, this time around the villain is a little darker, the mood is more surreal and there is a heavy focus on internal character development and relationships blurring the lines between “supervillain” and “corporate bad-guy in a suit”; power, greed, corruption and morals are the villainous themes here for 80% of the film rather than deadly toxic gasses, bombs or destruction of the city itself. It edges into making villains more "everyday" than expected. The darker theme of this film is one that puts me off as I loved the blend of fun and action in the first film which felt more like an honest comic-book adaptation fit for the silver screen. Danny DeVito’s Penguin nearly outshines Keaton’s Batman for screen-time, and it’s nearly a good hour into the film when we see Batman in action. He appears for a few minutes in the opening half but that comes and goes quickly. As much as The Joker in Burtons’ direction, our villain here is explored at great sacrifice to anything else to forge his relationships and his motives. I missed Batman more than I thought I would, and he doesn’t get into the swing of things until the second half of the film I felt, which is a shame as Keaton has so much to give in the role.Christopher Walken plays another wonderfully sly and hammy villain and Michelle Pfeiffer is iconic in her role of the tough-talking and wonderfully lithe Catwoman who has never been bettered, with pale attempts at a re-imagining by Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway. Her fiery attitude and high-kicking action combined with that memorable black vinyl catsuit is something that makes her interpretation timeless.Gotham City is far larger, as it to be expected to grow on the success of a predecessor, and populated with more gothic inspired buildings and plazas, but once again showing great set design and imagination in the creation of a city you can’t place as another New York or Los Angeles. It’s a stand-out supporting character alone and it’s nice to see the highs of the dizzying rooftops and lows of the catacomb sewers in use, making the best of the city Batman must protect. There is decent action here but nothing too stand-out sadly, as Burton seems to be a more character based story director rather than capable of high-octane action that Batman really needs. The fights are well choreographed, but don’t really grab you as much in-between all the talking scenes. Compared to the energetic and vibrancy of the first film bolstered by the zany antics of Jack Nicholson’s Joker carrying the film along and making Batman use his brains as well as his brawn, this film feels a lot slower and hampered by the overall darkness of DeVito’s Penguin. He does a very memorable and grotesque job as the nightmarish villain, but somehow the tone feels too drastic to compare it to the first and those light-hearted, yet ever dangerous, traits of the first are lost here. But overall it’s another solid Batman film that never abuses the source material and is full of the panoramic cinematography; exciting music and faithful characters that make the Batman franchise a darker and grittier super-hero.It's just a shame that with the ending left open for players to return and continue Burton's vision of Gotham City that it would be the last time we would have the brilliant Michael Keaton in the role of Batman and it would usher in a drastic change in tone that would soon spell certain doom, ridicule and the definite end of Batman's current cinematic legacy and his credibility on screen as a whole...

The best Batman
Michael Keaton has given us a Batman performance that is head and shoulders above everyone else. His Bruce Wayne is merely a persona(as it should be) And unlike Bale's character who was more comfortable as a reclusive Bruce Wayne, Keaton's Batman is confident and always seems to be in control even when things seem to be going against him. Michelle Pfeiffer is Catwoman. Very unfortunate she didn't get her own movie. Danny Devitois great as a disgusting dark take on The Penguin. Christopher Nolan gives his usual excellent performance as the morally challenged Max Shreck.Batman and Batman Returns are always two highlights of my Christmas season.

Klasse Service
Vielen Dank nochmals
